Looking at a job close to Auburn, but holy hell the housing prices are overvalued. Is the NW part of the city limits being heavily developed?

But in all seriousness, idk about prices but Loachapoka is about to be functionally if not officially swallowed up by Auburn neighborhoods and we're not far off from the same thing happening heading out towards the lake on Farmville

Opelika has some options. Also south of Auburn in Beauregard area has places with acreage.

Yeah, only problem is you are so far from the city core, but prices are inflated. That area was pines 10 years ago. The city needs to cull the subdivisions, or Auburn will turn into Chelsea.

It has gotten unreal. Wife and I are also looking at houses in the area, but are instead looking in Opelika and further south. It seems most of the market is now new construction with no yard. That's fine for some, but we prefer something older or with more land.

My favorite laughable listings have been the ones that were on the market for a few months, removed for a week or less and placed back on the market at a higher price. Gotta love the real estate market.

I live in an area that has high property values. I can clearly see Auburn is in a bubble when slab homes are going for 400k.

I love me some Auburn but if it's substantially more than 500k just to own a house that is insanity and just flat out is not worth it.

I moved there shortly in 2005 and thought it was insane then. Idk back then there seemed to be one builder, Clevelands?, and they owned the construction, realtor and banking supply chain. Seemed shady.

The market here is ridiculous. We live in Auburn and are trying to upgrade and stay in Auburn. Seeing some of the shite that's going for $400,000 will make you sick.

Market in Birmingham and the Greater Birmingham area is nuts as well.

I bought a house not that long ago in the Crestwood area and it’s already gone up at least 30-40k and that’s likely a conservative estimate.

Not so subtle brag.

There were entire blocks in downtown Auburn that wouldn't have sold for $500K back in my college days.

But that was when instate tuition for a full year was $600. Probably the only thing that's seen more inflation than Auburn real estate.

I believe it. I moved in my house in 2013 and it has increased by about that much

I was looking at 2/1 condos down there in '08. Could have bought them all day long for $60K. Wish I had now. Easily tripled in value from what I can tell.

The inventory is very low in Auburn and that has driven prices way up.

If you want Moore's Mill, Grove Hill, expect to have to do major remodels as those housed have aged. If you want new, I would suggest the AU Club. Very mixed neighborhood, some large lots and some small ones. Prices from around $400,000 to over a million.
