Why? Gus would be an idiot not to attempt getting a Kelly Bryant to come run his offense. It has little bearing on a young QB with very limited college experience.

I’m not saying it was like a vote of no confidence or anything. It may have been but I don’t know. I don’t think Gatewood wants to sit another year.

Let's not undervalue Nix's running ability, too. I think he ran a 4.6 40. I feel like some of this talk is driven because Joey didnt appear to walk away with it. However, as some pointed out, A day game is a small cross section, and not always an indicator of who will start.

^This. Nix was around the corner on one read option and had nothing but green in front of him. The quick whistle made it appear like just a decent run/gain. The announcer did mention that it might have been a TD in live action.

I suspect when running inside or in traffic that Gatewood holds an advantage.

And with YAC. Gatewood is going to stand up to the punishment of the hits more than Nix, just bc of his build and size.

Nix, is definitely quicker than Stidham when taking off though, so that is good.

Yeah. But the seperation between a true fresh isn't as large as I had hoped. Maybe we are getting better QB coaching with Dilly.

We can only hope.

Something’s different.

Probably a mix of Gus being more involved and Dilly being mostly dedicated to the QBs versus play calling and game planning

Yep, I agree. Even Malik looked a little more poised and confident as QB. The two ahead of him are just better.

5 hours later I've finally stopped fapping about Tiger Woods and can focus on AU football again.

I thought Joey and Bo both looked good. DJ looked good for a true freshman. Big kid.

My fear is the QB race will spill over to the fourth game of the season.

I dont think that would be a bad thing. We arent winning a title this year. One of these guys will probably transfer. Find out which one is best.

Everything I read before yesterday said Gatewood was probably pulling away a bit.

Not sure why there is an undertone of negativity about him over here.

#1 takeaway I had is that Seth Williams needs to be force fed the football. That dude is special

I haven't seen or heard any negativity towards Gatewood. If anything, i've seen more surprising positive comments on him, as he certainly has improved and showed it in A-day.

I think though that he still has to learn the QB nuances that make a better decision maker.

If you go look at the video, on the TD he threw to Seth Williams in the corner of the endzone, I noticed JG stared down where he wanted to go, and the safety saw it and came over, and for some strange reason he goes behind Williams, and made it easy for WIlliams go up and get it. If the FS cuts in front, he has a great chance at an INT.

He is going to turn the ball over like that, with his lack of passing experience, and that is what I worry about. I think Nix has a better upside to be an efficient and error-less passer.

But Gatewood looked better for sure, and all QBs will look good if they throw it up to SWilliams....

I’ve already explained my reasoning. Gatewood didn’t push himself, he lost his number, and got completely complacent while sitting on the bench. I do not see Gatewood willing to wait around on the bench for another season. If Kelly Bryant signed with Auburn he’d probably already be gone.

No he didn't.

Go to the 23 second mark. He is watching down the middle of the field then switches over to Seth right before he throws it.

I was also impressed with Harold Joiner. He lined up all over the field and looked natural with the ball. He got upfield quick and took some hits. He could definitely be an asset if used .

Yea he looked really good. I hope he has a good year. He can be real dangerous out of the backfield.
