Good coaches sustain teams year over year. We don't see that with Gus.
This is a huge issue IMO. Going into year 7 and we have no idea what we're going to get. Twice we've started ranked in the top 10 only to finish unranked. We never know if we're going to be a run heavy team, a pass happy team, a read-option team. He's wildly inconsistent when it comes to consistency and I expect consistency for the price we're paying him.

When have we ever been a pass happy team? If we were ever going to be a pass happy team it would have been 2018. However, even with "NFL talent" at quarterback, and loads of gifted receivers, our passing game was predicated by a non existent running game due to limited experience / talent / depth at running back and the offensive line.

Yeah it's kinda weird to criticize Gus for not having a consistent offensive scheme when most of us are on here criticizing him for not changing anything. Seems like those are conflicting arguments
Inconsistent results? Absolutely. Inconsistent scheme? Not seeing it.

I thought the gusbus offense was the same consistent 6 plays

I guess the down votes are for the people that think gusbus has more that 6 plays. Well, if you count the wirlybird and fakes maybe 10.

Ofc it could be both. Inconsistent scheme is him relying on trick plays bc his other plays that should create splash plays weren't working especially with his limited successful pass plays.
To run on 4th down and 11 a pass play to a kicker, is poor decision on what will be the most successful. It was doomed from the minute it was called.

Are you really confusing Auburn games with UGA games now? Auburn never faked anything on 4th and 11. That was the UGA fake punt against Bama.
Auburn through a pass to Anders on 4th and 4, that picked up 3 yards.

Gus has flip flopped more than any coach than I've ever seen...
I will be take a hands off approach. I will get more involved. I will be a CEO type HC. I will get back to my roots and coach football. I will retire the playbook. I will call all the plays.
Somewhere Rhett Lashlee and Chip Lindsey are sitting back laughing saying y'all knew it wasn't me but you blamed me anyway...

Also as far as Dilli Dilli goes...
This was too much to write again, so I'm just gonna copy and paste my post from another site.
I just question how everyone thinks this kid is some hotshot coach comparing him with Lincoln Riley and Sean McVey. I also don't get why some of you think he is some QB Guru. Let's do a rundown. This guy doesn't even have a Wiki page... So I've had to get this from different articles...
In 2013 while Malzahn was taking his first team to the national championship, Dillingham was working his way up as a football camp manager for the City of Scottsdale from 2000 to 2013. 2014 and 2015 he was an offensive grad assistant that worked with tight ends at Arizona State. He was not the TE coach. 2016 offensive grad assistant at Memphis. 2017 QB and TE coach. 2018 OC who didn't call plays and QB coach. So his entire career of coaching has been 13 years in highschool (big shocker) but not as a highschool head coach. As a camp manager, freshman coach, and OC. Then we have 3 years as a grad assistant that coached TEs, 2 years as a QB coach, and 1 year as a non play calling OC...
I have no issue with his age. Not in the slightest. And he very well may be the next best thing since sliced bread, but I don't see it.... You guys just eat it up if you want. I see the hire for what it is. I mean dude has 2 years as an actual on the field coach and y'all are acting like we hired Belichick.

After 2010 it has looked basically the same schematically. What kills me is 2009 and his time at Tulsa. Was on youtube watching some 2009 games and the offensive plays doesn't look as different but the formations/motions do. I would love to see us going back to that.

Those applauding this hire are part of the problem... how can anyone legitimately believe this guy is SEC caliber...
He lacks experience to be an OC, at least as the term is normally defined, at a program as demanding at AU, facing defenses like LSU, UGA, MSU, and of course Bama. Two years ago he was a grad assistant, and before that a high school asst coach. Considering all the big names rumored and that our AD knows that this hire had to make a splash to pump some excitement back to the program, to come up with an OC that just sprung from his momma's womb really speaks volumes about the state of the program and Gus' job status. It proves what we all felt, that Gus is a lame duck and, barring another surprise SEC title, will be fired when that buyout becomes more palatable.

And the ones that won championships also had good coaching. That's the part we are missing. I'll give you the unique combo of Gus' misdirection play calling plus personnel equals 2010 National Championship. But what's next? How many years of good-will does one National Championship buy you?
So Mike are you talking about SEC Championships or National Championships. Because if you are talking about National Championships, there are only four active coaches in college football with Nattys under their belt. And we went 50 years before we got our second.
And you mentioned UGA putting us in their rear view, not sure they have won any more than we have lately. Yes they are on a up swing and dong well right now but there is no hardware in the trophy case right now to merit your case. I totally get what you are getting at but by saying get a natty or move on, you will probably be looking for a coach for a long time
Nattys do not come easy

Dong is a fine chinese name meaning pillar or beam.

I am all for Gus calling plays again. He did in '13 (not sure about last year). Either way, there will be no doubt who is responsible for the offensive woes if he is calling plays. No more arguing over whether it is the OC's offense or Gus "meddling." We will know for certain either way and that's good.

I’m wondering where you’re seeing this
I’d imagine everybody knows he’s coming in to be a yes man/recruiter

I'm just hoping he can help our QB's get better. Will Gus let him do that?
