Did you post something similar after LSU or Mercer last season?

We'll be ranked #8 after next week
Miss St looks terrible
UGA doesn't look as good as last year
Find some kind of rythm on offense and we'll be okay.
No shot at beating Bama unfortunately

Our defense will keep us in games, but we don’t have a reliable back or any consistent weapons at wide receiver so far, which is concerning.

Whitlow is a reliable back. He should be kept in the majority of the game and Martin should be brought in situationally. Seth Williams, Slayton, Ryan Davis, and Anthony Schwartz are about as reliable as it gets. We just need to develop good enough OL play to allow Stidham time to make the throws to them.

Any carry that would have gone to Martin should go to Shivers, he's hands down better

Agreed. Sometimes i'm not sure what brand of crack our coaches on, but I should probably switch to that.

We don't know what we have at RB. Bo would struggle behind that OL.
If we can get the OL fixed, our guys might be able to make some noise.

We are past 4 games now so maybe we go on a winning streak now, but our offense sucks so idk.

I will admit to being 3/4 negabarner at the moment.
This team has gone backwards on offense. Makes me feel sorry for the defense.

I am still 50/50 because of the schedule and our defense. Only sure loss is Bama.
USM (Win)
MSU (Toss Up) make or break game
UT (Win)
Ole Miss (Win)
TAMU (Toss Up) Second make or break game
UGA (Loss, a chance of pulling upset)
Liberty Scrimmage (Win)
Bama (1% chance of victory if they want a week off before playing Kentucky in the SEC championship game)
So anywhere from 7-5 to 9-3 is about the best we can expect. 8-4 is the most likely.

The offense definitely doesn't look good. This time last year, however, we had just put up 24 points on the mighty Mercer Bears, so I'm choosing not to panic just yet.

quote:Last year our fourth game was at Mizzou, wherein we had five scoring drives of >50 yards (including two >80) and scored 51 points, the beginning of a three-game stretch where we averaged 48 points and 520 yards of total offense per game.
We are past 4 games now
Oh, and our leading rusher against Mizzou was Kam Martin (9 carries for 74 yards). KJ scored 5 TDs, but averaged only 2.7 ypc on 18 attempts.

Something is clearly off... most of this could be laid at the feet of the OL, but not all of it.
I think the coaching staff thought we could just crush Ark with a vanilla, run heavy game plan... and after the 1st TD it looked like that was gonna happen. But there was a combo of factors that made it tough
— the OL was the worst we’ve seen since 2012... New starter at center, and Harrell looks hurt. Regardless of the excuses, it was terrible.
— the Ark defense is actually better than many expected... and John Chavez, while a terrible recruiter, is a very good DC. He’s been scheming against some variation of the Gus offense for the better part of a decade.
You could also say we had an LSU hangover... but that kinda goes hand in hand with the vanilla game plan and play calling.

That’s slightly misleading... we’ve faced 2 legit top 10 nationally defenses... and while the results were mediocre at best, we still managed to break 20 pts.
Saturday was really bad... no excuses. Ark is at least respectable on D, but we should’ve been able to break 400 yds.

after hearing Chip Lindseys Sunday commments, It seems that the Offense is just not in sync.
It starts w OL, and starting a Center in his very first game, has to cause some issues. I think we have a weakness at one of the guard position too.
With the OL getting pushed some up the middle too much (as CL stated), that seems to cause Stidham to either rush his throws and not getting to plant his foot or he feels the push starts to scramble too much, and then either throws it away or gets sacked. JS is definitely not in rhythm.
And as CL said, getting a amount of positive yards on 1st down is critical to getting this offense into tempo.
I think it also is trying to get FR RBs and FR WRs to execute on a consistent level that is at times a problem too.
I just hope that experience will bring it all together by the MSU game.
We do have a lot of new starters and youth everwhere on Offense except at QB, LT, and a couple of WRs (81 and 23).
