I could be way off and I will admit I do not have any inside information but...............

I just don't see how a player would allow a shoe company to influence his choice of schools. I don't see how going to a NIKE camp would cause a player to eliminate schools who wear other brands of shoes.

Also, CTB problem is not getting kids to Auburn it is keeping the players in Auburn and developing them. (Sounds familiar)

Bama is a Nike school, right?

How come Bama hasn't been very good in basketball lately then?

We beat them once already this year, right?

Barbee has really had two and a half classes here so far. The first one and a half were flops for sure. This last one looks to be ok. He can't have anymore defections after this year though. Like I said, I'm not sure about Barbee, but lets also not forget the other problems our program has also.

There's just too many schools that recruit "average" talent and still are competitive nationally to blame it on the fricking shoes.

"Shoes" is a damned cop-out.

Bama made a tournament appearance last year. They've been respectable

It's not just "shoes". If you think that's all it really is, then you need to read up a little. How about when our compliance department made us kick the son of one of the players in the AAU circuit in Huntsville off the team? Have you ever looked at the offer lists of the players we get? We're beating out the no names of the world for their signatures.

We have a lot of problems other than coaching with this program.

Logic: Well there are 300+ other programs looking for the exact same thing.. making that turnaround pretty damn difficult.

My point was it doesn't take an awesome Calapari recruiter to win bball games. Also, we aren't looking for a drastic turn around just a coach that can get us to the NIT. Look at some of the teams in the NIT this year their talent will be subpar to AU's starting 5 but they will be well coached in a good system.

Half of our players are in their first year of school. A lot of those teams are made of players that are experienced and have been in the same system for years. Again, I'm not necessarily defending Barbee because he definitely has been a let down this year.

Let's just look at our team for what it is. We have a senior in Frankie that's a pretty good role player. He can't carry a team. Then our other senior starter(s) at times, are Josh Wallace and Rob Chubb. Wallace was a walk on and Chubb just isn't very good, but he's definitely maxed out what talent he does have. The first couple of Barbee's classes were obviously misses. Some of that was his fault and some wasn't. For whatever reason, we don't have much left from those two classes.

Now Barbee's coaching does confuse me at times. We're not a talented team, but he's extremely hard on our guys. It's almost detrimental to them learning anything. He also puts the oddest lineups on the court at times. It's really unbalanced and that alone has cost us. It looks like the frustration of losing is taking it's toll on the players and Barbee, but Barbee's approach to everything right now isn't going to make anything better. That's for sure.
