Who’s going?

Thinking about going. Haven't had a chance to see in person yet and tickets cheap

We went to the UAB game last year and it was your typical Birmingham CLOWNSHOW getting in and out of there. Skipping it this year.

Birmingham just needs to build light rail and not half arse it like Atlanta/Marta
Yes it would be expensive but well worth the cost to reduce the 280 clusterfrick and making the growing downtown easily accessible.

Will be there. If you can make it, go, it was a fun event last year. Great atmosphere.
Just park in the parking deck about a block south from the arena, easy getting in and out.
We park there every time we go to the BJCC no matter the event.

I'll be there. Trying to find out when and where Tiger Walk is going to be.

I really love/hate going places like Chicago and Salt Lake. You really never have to get in a car for any reason. Salt Lake I felt safe everywhere. Chicago you needed to pay a little more attention.
Oddly, we had a great trolley system in Birmingham, but it went away when everyone decided they needed a car.
Maybe it won't be as bad if UAB isn't playing. It took us forever to park since they eliminated all that parking underneath the overpasses downtown. Ended up in one of those pay lots by the civics center. Getting in and out of there took forever.........

I’ll be out of town, unfortunately

There are a ton of hidden benefits people don't think about when discussing mass transit. Hell, well run transit systems make the roads/driving much better and cheaper (less road maintenance / expansion)
Also, Alabama/BHam is basically throwing away money by not taking up federal grants/subsidies. Over the years places like Phoenix AZ have received federal subsidies of $1billion+ (~$50% of their construction costs) for light rail construction.

Tempe where Ariz St is decided to reintroduce streetcars downtown/Mill Ave. There is a good argument too that transit can considerably improve Uber/Lyft, BikeShare,ScooterShare services too
With the station acting as a neighborhood hub, it would allow travelers to efficiently/safely travel anywhere in the neighborhood serviced by the transit.

Bump for a ticket question....
Was this event actually sold out last year? Looking at ticketmaster a bunch of sections are sold out.
No way this can be legit right?

It was shockingly full last year. Not packed out but I'd conservatively say 90%

Didnt we play UAB last year?
I would say that is why it was nearly full

That helped but the crowd was basically all orange and blue. It was the largest Bham hoops crowd in like 40 years or something

With tickets at AA hard to come by I don't think it'd be surprising to have another good crowd on a non-football Saturday with a good opponent.
Posted on 12/12/19 at 12:22 pm to Pettifogger
Just browsing ticketmaster and stubhub it looks like it will be a similar crowd
Posted on 12/12/19 at 12:45 pm to auburnnyc94
yeah i'm tempted to just grab a cheap ticket in the rafters and go
