Justin Ferguson
@JFergusonAU
Auburn DE Marlon Davidson has been named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for the second straight time. The senior is on fire right now.

Seems to be playing harder this year. Don’t know if that’s my imagination or not.

He is a bad man. Badder than Corn Pop.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks like he's gained a lot of weight to better play all of the line positions, and it doesn't look like he's used to it yet. He seems a tad slow and tired a lot of the time, but his sheer talent and force of will is still allowing him to make a ton of plays. Dude is a beast.

I thought he lost weight this offseason? Maybe that was someone else

Hmm maybe I'm wrong then. I just noticed a few times this season he was huffing and puffing and looked stuffed in his jersey/pads. Of course, I could have confused him with someone else. They're all massive

Same weight as last year but his body fat dropped 5%. He focused on nutrition and conditioning to help improve his first step and closing ability.

Gotcha. I could also be thinking more of him his first few years, when he was more of a true DE. I revisited the highlights from last week, and him and Big Kat looked pretty damn fast, so again, maybe I'm conflating him with someone else I saw that looked a heavy and gassed. Either way, his versatility is huge for us, so some extra weight isn't that big of a deal.

Yep. Sure has. I’m so thankful for Truesdell too. Hopefully he doesn’t leave for the NFL this year too or else we are fricked next year. Truesdell is quick for his size.

Seems to be just a step quicker this year. He always had everything but the quick burst imo. Seems like he may have dropped 10 lbs or less to gain a little quickness/speed.

ETA: I guess I should read the thread before responding. Seems I was on the right track save for the weight loss. He seems quicker this year, for sure.

I read where Garner was always on Truesdell's arse in practice. Perhaps he saw something in Tyrone that Tyrone did not realize was there until now.

He has been a pleasant surprise so far this season.

Now if my boy Newkirk could ever get healthy.....

I believe this is the first time in a long time we are seeing a fully healthy Marlon.

TT IMO played well when he was in last season.

Marlon Davidson earns SEC D Lineman of the week for the third time this season.

Brown has won it two times this season.

Only 7 games have been played...We are talking about domination here.

Our DL has been incredible this year. With a remotely functional offense, we win the Florida game easily.

Yep. We would be winning the conference if we had the offense. Never in my life would’ve imagined saying this in 2013 and 2014.

I read that Jones. Also said before and after pics were very noticeable, the difference that is.

He is much quicker off the line, and that was already a high bar to achieve.
