Let's talk playoff strategy

The LSU game is huge, IMO. Assuming we win and take care of the mid-level teams afterwards, we could probably split UGA/UA and still get in. IMO, UA and UGA have to run the table to get in based on their weak schedule.

Talk about a jinx. Dear lord.

I dont think we can stand to lose the bama game any way around unless bama sinks two, which isnt happening. We are not getting a Bama bump unless we lose a close one to them and blow out everyone else or the rest of the NCAA has 1-2 losses

This.
But also, we will absolutely get in the playoff with 1 loss regardless of who it is against. The Bama bump was remarkable because they literally had 0 impressive wins last year. We will have a minimum of three if we somehow finish with only one loss.

Bama can lose a game and get in... Auburn, not so fast my friend.

We have the hardest path to the playoffs in all of college football by a long way, so I'm just taking it one game at a time.

WAY too early to even begin to think about talking about this so I'll keep my thoughts broad.
Winner of the SECCG is in (DUH!). After an all SEC final last year and the BCS title game in 2012, I think the committee will look for a way to take only one SEC school.
Barring some catastrophe in Athens, GA, UGA is going to win the East (another duh).
I don't see Bama dropping more than one before the SECCG, if that; therefore, any SECw team can only afford to drop one conference game and then probably only to a cross divisional opponent. In no particular order, I see A&M, LSU, Bama, and Auburn in the hunt for the West. That makes the DSOR the LEAST important game on Auburn's schedule.
For now, let's worry about LSU, show up at JH on Saturday and scream 'til we lose our voices, and start referring to the playoffs (when we must mention it at all) as "that of which we shall not speak."

If this happened last year, then yes (see Bama obviously), but not this year. There will be too many teams that have 0 or 1 loss and are conference champs this year. Look at the schedules - Clemson is basically in already, UGA is already in the SECG, Washington or Stanford will likely win the Pac-12 with 1 or 0 Losses, then Big-10 champ will likely have 0 or 1 loss. Gonna be next to impossible to jump those teams unless our only loss is to UGA, and then we beat them in the SEC game.

Eh. It seems like that every year but is never actually the case. I do pretty much agree that Clemson is going to be in.. but beyond that I'm not sure of anything other than Bama only having 1 or 0 losses.

One of the crazier scenarios is what happens if we beat UGA, but lose to Bama. Then UGA beats Bama in the SECCG, so we all end up with one loss.
I'm sure we would get left out in that scenario even though our schedule is significantly more difficult that both Bama and UGA's.

Depends on how Washington finishes.
If they are sitting there with one loss (to us) and our only loss is to bammer - we may get the nod.

I personally feel like Bama will be our only L this year. We could have the same path to the playoffs as they had last year.

Teams always lose games they shouldn’t every single year. Nobody saw Clemson losing to Syracuse or Oklahoma losing to Iowa State, or Ohio State getting blown out by Iowa last year. 1 or 2 teams max make it through the season undefeated. That’s how it plays out most of the time.
So with that being case, Auburn should absolutely be the front runner for one of the playoffs spots with 1 loss, as we would more than likely have the best resume given our schedule (we would have several quality wins and most likely one of the best losses).
The one scenario stated above though, is our worst case nightmare. We beat UGA, lose to Bama, and UGA wins the conference. UGA is automatically in, and Bama gets the edge, due to head to head and extra win. That scenarios sucks. If we lose to UGA or any other team and beat Bama, we still probably need to win the SEC championship to guarantee a playoff spot. A 2 loss team will always need help to make it in the playoff, even if that second loss is against a top 5 team in an extra game. So losing to Alabama and avoiding the SECC game is probably our easiest way into the playoff, but then we will probably need to root Bama in the SECC game.

Bro, I'm not on the team. The game Saturday has literally zero to do with the focus of people on this board.

I agree - if you want to say it’s silly to do all these ‘what ifs’ scenarios when we are two weeks into the season, okay valid point. But for fans to say we just need to focus on [insert next opponent] is so funny to me.

Would certainly be interesting if undefeated Auburn beats undefeated Georgia and then undefeated Alabama beats undefeated Auburn to end the season. Then in the SECCG one-loss Georgia beats undefeated Alabama. Would make for a WILD 3-way one-loss tie in the SEC.
It would be much more interesting in this situation if there's no other undefeated teams in the country. The committee would have to take at least 2 of the 3.

I don't want in the playoffs if we can't win the conference.
