I am legitimately angry about this. In past seemed like he lost due to it being a career achievement award. If there's anyone that's earned it it's him

Missed 7 kicks this year. Hard to argue he deserved it.

How many were blocked? 3? 4?

He's forever enshrined in SEC/NCAA history and will be drafted probably by the end of round 5. He'll get his award. He deserved it, but he's proven himself regardless.

Let's be really honest ... yes he is a great kicker, but he didn't have a great year compared to his past performances.

I agree.

He should have won an Groza one of the past two seasons

The kid from Arizona was clearly better last season (made a ridiculous number of 50+ yard kicks). Not much of a contest this year as Carlson's numbers weren't elite due to blocked kicks. I can't remember what he did in his 2nd season, but that it pretty much the only one that you could argue he "deserved".

Sucks he didn't get it again but being a finalist three years is maybe more impressive. Hope he has an amazing pro career. Pretty sure he will

Oh this was his least deserving year but the Groza has been given out more as a career achievement award than anything else in recent seasons

Carlson SHOULD have won in 2015 but was beat out by senior Ka'Imi Fairbairn. I think Zane Gonzalez was probably a bit more deserving last year but it was close & so again they went with the senior. Gay had the better year (like Carlson in 2015) but instead of giving it to Carlson like they did Faribarin for a great career they go Gay. I just don't like the flip flopping on what this award is actually supposed to do

I am mostly just salty Carlson doesn't have a Groza in his trophy case despite fact he's one of the best kickers in SEC history

Fairbairn in 2015 - 20/24 overall but 4-8 from 40+
Carlson in 2015 - 23/27 overall but 8/10 from 40+
