Auburn did make R1 research but he had little to do with that. The standards to make R1 were lowered, heck Bama even made it as did every SEC school. I cannot think of a single thing he did that was good for AU. I know no one who thought he was a good fit.

I just hope we don't hire for diversity reasons like was rumored last time. I just want the most qualified person for the job. Being an assistant to and an AU grad doesn't make you qualified. This is a large business and needs someone with actual skills in this space. No learn on the job types.

I would love Hargrave. He’s come to speak at a couple AU Alumni functions. He seems like a skilled fundraiser too.

So diversity was so important that we hired a short white ahole?
Can't wait for us to make a "diversity" hire and all the white people immediately jump to "affirmative action hire"

How about the best person for the job? A lot of shitty candidates are good at checking boxes. Just look at Sonny Holloway hire
Allen Greene wasn't high profile/highly qualified P5 AD at Buffalo but he seems to be a solid hire.

Jury is out on Allen Greene. He hasn’t really done anything

He kept Bruce from being fired by that POS Leath. Also Leath wanted to make all the athletic department decisions and micro managed ADAG.

He pushed back hard on Leath trying to fire Bruce Pearl.

He has done enough for me to say..........pay that man his money.
Greene, Pearl, and McGlynn are the three we can't pay enough, IMO, and we certainly can't lose. Butch is quickly getting there.

Any competent AD would’ve stuck up for a coach who just won a championship
In the grand scheme of being an AD, he hasn’t done anything yet. Downvote it all you want, but that’s the truth

Greene was hired and supported Bruce before we won a championship

Wouldn’t waste the effort. There’s a group of people that just aren’t going to accept the guy no matter what he does or doesn’t do. Goal posts will always move and successes will have another attribution. Any failures will be magnified. Just like Jacobs. Luckily they’re just the loud and small message board types.
He has extended all of our successful coaches and has demonstrated a lot of skill in navigating delicate situations. He hasn’t become Gus’s bitch and he hasn’t fricked anything up. He stays out of news headlines and works hard behind the scenes to fundraise. He’s not the lord and savior of Auburn athletics but he’s done exactly what an AD should do when multiple athletic programs are experiencing breakthrough success: stand back and support the coaches, athletes, and promote the programs.

n the grand scheme of being an AD,
Probably means you shouldn't hear about them or know what they are doing that often. I appreciate how Greene is handling his business.

Greene hasn’t been allowed to do a whole lot since leath decided to run a lot of the athletics stuff out of Sanford hell. I think Greene will now get a chance to actually be the AD and we’ll see what happens. I hope he does well.

Hopefully the BOT will be above board and open with the next hiring process.... the hiring and manner in which Leath was selected was not in the least...

That’s the downside to AA, it puts that thought in the back of everyone’s mind. I feel bad for the qualified minority candidates who have to deal with that.

You should feel bad for all qualified Candidates when it comes to AA. Not just the minority ones.
IT is basically a program that creates the exact same bad situation it was implemented for.
Nothing more, nothing less
