Bruce Pearl. Do it.
This is the most logical and practical decision that can be made tbh.

He was a bad fit from day one. He was a pompous arse. His coronation was fit for a King (not how we do it at Auburn), did not listen to board members who hated the Gus’ contract, wanted Bruce fired, he and his wife were total divas about the mansions (4 million over budget, they were ripping up tile, color, walls, the furniture, etc). It was all about him from his executive cabinet to dealing with the Academic side. To settle things down Auburn BOT suggested he make General Burgess the COO (a great Auburn Man. Google him) and that helped be a bandaid. Bottom line is this had to happen. Hope he has to move his stuff out of the mansion today.
Also it is expected that Jay Gogue will be interim. You could not find two more polar opposites.

Stepping stone hire? That's a new one. Why would the U go to all that trouble to hire a temporary President. Sorry, doesn't make sense...and not sure i buy that reasoning..

Haha, for real!
Seriously though, I didn't know any direct information about his time at Auburn, but from what I hear, this should be a good move. I'm proud of Auburn for taking action. Now let's go hire a real knock out president who can take Auburn even further.

There is some talk that Bill Hargrave could be the new President. Just a sidewalk fan so don’t know shite about him.
Posted on 6/22/19 at 8:38 am to rbWarEagle
frick yeah. That moron really needs to go. The fact that he had to hire someone to run the day to day operations was a joke. That is literally what he was paid to do.

Now we have to see if we will make a power move or not

I don’t think Leath was a hot commodity when we picked him up from Iowa State (especially considering his issues there). Good fundraiser, I bet, was an appealing part of his CV... yet he had to be forced into the football facility. Regardless of why, I’m happy we moved on.

Well that was unexpected. I kind of thought he’d be a good president for our academics and specifically our graduate research.

His help to get us to R1 is definitely appreciated - PAIR was a good idea. The suddenness of his departure definitely raises eyebrows, though.

Hargrave was the dean of the HCOB when I was a student. His reputation was solid and I’d be interested to see how he would do

Deserved to be fired. Especially after the idiotic Malzahn contract.

It was supposedly in the works for a while, so maybe it was planned to go into effect in the summer when things are a bit slower around the university. I also understand the Friday night announcement because although we are happy to be moving on, this isn't necessarily something you want to be a big deal.

Leath tried to take advantage of Auburn every way possible. From extravagant mansion renovations to wanting every one of his meals paid for by the school. frick that guy and good riddance.

The only thing he was good at is petitioning the government to give Auburn money. Everything else he sucked at.
Leath is the embodiment of the Peter Principle.

Well it looks like Leath had strengths in the academia and money raising side, but was terrible, terrible in his communication skills across the levels of his responsibility. He also seemed to not handle anything well within the athletic side.
Who hired him anyway? It seemed from the get go that he was NOT a well rounded administrator...

Marshall says Harbert was the driving force behind the Leath hire.
Also says Harbert’s power and influence will undisputedly take a hit.

Looks like Gogue is going to be interim president while the search is taking place.
Posted on 6/22/19 at 2:06 pm to krandor
That is a luxury. Gogue isn’t going to frick anything up during the search so we can take our time.
