What type of runner is he really? I don’t watch tape on high school players because I feel like competition doesn’t do it justice. I was impressed with his run in the bowl game.
What expectations do you personally have for him as a read option QB should he win the job? As a passer?

I have absolutely zero expectations of any QB under Gus anymore. Just wait and see for me.

Honestly, there isn't a ton of tape. His HS coach had a weird system of QB rotation. Kid was raw when he arrived on campus.

I'm amazed at how many people think he is gonna be great based on that run. He definitely looked good and like a good athlete running down hill but tons of guys look good running down hill. Like Kiehl Frazier for example.

I remember when Jeremy Johnson looked great against Arky..

We might know by the 5th game next season.

He’s big and strong.
Looks tough.
Unafraid.
Winner.

Except Joey played a lot tougher competition in high school than Frazier or JJ. And he also shined in the All American game.

No expectations, but I am hopeful.

When did Frazier ever look good doing anything? Dude sucked and was scared. JJ was just scared.

He's not a run first guy like nic marshall or willis.
Average speed probably 4.8 guy
Elusive in the since that he's 6'5 250 and can make you miss but not in the since that he's reversing field braking ankles and taking it to the house.
Short yardage / Wildcat specialist - YES
Keeps a few read options to keep the defense honest - YES
1000 yard rusher - Would be awesome I don't see it though

Since you don't know when to use the word "since", I'm gonna ignore it. Does that make sense to you?

Seems like on tape (never seen in person) his running was light years better than those lob passes?
Was that just one bad tape?

I have seen him in person, on numerous occasions. He can make any throw. He's not Peyton Manning, but he's definitely more accurate than Marshall was.

If so (any throw) a big boy like him ought to keep defenses honest.

Of course Frazier sucked, but he looked at least decent as a downhill runner and at times in his wildcat package in the 2011 season. There was more to glean from there than some mop up duty at the end of a bowl.

JVille, how was his mobility?
Posted on 1/5/19 at 7:55 am to Marines4Auburn
Well in high school, he made it look easy. Like he knew he could pick up a first down any time he wanted to just take off, but would keep his eyes down field, looking for a WR.

The other team is so small.
I understand he’s 6’5” 237, but some of the competition is 5’9” 186 on the defensive line.
