Agree
I'm not worried.
We may not get top 10 classes every year, but we will still recruit well and get the right guys for Auburn.

Not really worried because of Trooper being gone. It's more to do with who Gus puts in these coaching positions. I like the DC hire, but the OC hire was underwhelming. I hope we get some recruiters in these other positions.

I am too. There is something to be said for just assuming that gus is doing it right, however change for change sake isn't always a good thing.

More interested in player development that recruiting. Tubs never had these classes but he won more.

Trooper's a hell of a recruiter. I kind of wished we would have moved him off the field and named him recruiting coordinator or something. I think his strength in recruiting was being all buddy buddy with the guys, and I also think that stripped away accountability and fear from the players and hurt us in the long run. Players should respect and follow the coaches as coaches, not as buddies.
I agree. We didn't have hardly any big names on defense in '04, but that was the best defense AU has ever fielded.

well who isn't. But it'd be nice to have a great skill set to start with.

I agree to a certain extent, but Tubs did have some pretty good classes.

We had mainly 2* and 3* on defense, with a couple 4* thrown in back then. Tubbs developed them.

What have all those great recruits done?
Troop still waiting for Benton to rewrite the record books.

It had to be done. What good is a top five class if it is loaded with prima donnas? I do agree that Gus needs to get an experienced top notch recruiter to evaluate talent and get it to campus, but I couldn't begin to tell you who that was. I will tell you this, player development and winning will do a lot of your recruiting for you.......

I'm cool with him being out. Somehow along the road, he has become more important to these recruits than the school itself. I want a coaching staff selling Auburn, not as assistant coach.
All that being said, I wish him the best in the future. He caught a lot of shite, a lot being undeserved in my opinion.

Needed to be done.
And if we lose some big-name recruits because they were committed to a wide receivers coach rather than a program, school, and community, I'm not going to lose any sleep at night.

I just looked. Most of the guys that did anything were three or four stars with an occasional two star in there, according to Rivals.

I agree that it needed to be done. I also think it's going to be hard to watch Jake Holland running around out there next year too. It's all blind faith with Gus right now.

of course...i think the concern is with who will replace him in that roll. At least that's my concern.

Ya I just would like having those recruits minus Taylor.
Foster didn't say he for sure wasn't coming to AU without Taylor though so who knows? I mean he has a tattoo

Some people on Das Boonker are saying this wasn't GM's decision, but rather a Rich McGlynn power move.
Not sure what to think about that.
