How big will the push be for Bill Clark as the next Auburn HC?

From Auburn fans that post on the Auburn Sports Board?

Huge push. Bulldozer push. Juggernaut push.

That goes no where.

The PTB aren't getting rid of Gus for Bill Clark.

I don’t see either going anywhere this year. Clark is surprisingly happy at UAB. Not saying he will be there a long time, but I definitely could see him staying 1-3 years. If a big job comes open it will be hard to turn down, but he’s not jumping at the first P5 job he gets.

Why? Just a few years ago, he was a coordinator at South Alabama. Before that, a HS head coach. Saban took the Michigan St. job, built a name, got the LSU job, then he was the Dolphins HC....I won't go into what he's done since then.

Never understood the Bill Clark love. He's Gus part 2. High school coach with a good couple of seasons at a directional school.

The only similarities between Gus & Bill Clark are that they were both successful HS coaches. Bill Clark has went on to become a successful college HC. He has taken a team that was given the death penalty, to a winning record the 1st year back, and is currently 8-1 in the 2nd year. They will give A&M fits on Saturday. Mark it down.

I couldn’t tell you the exact reason because everything I’ve heard is fourth hand information. But the fact he stayed at UAB during that debacle is telling. He had offers but decided to stick with the worst possible situation a coach can be in.

And that decision, coupled with his results, have increased his value by how much? He is on the tip of every analyst tongue as the next up and comer.

They struggled with a 4-4 Southern Miss team this weekend (had to come from behind in OT) but they've blown most teams out.

It'll be interesting to see what they do in college station this weekend. Their QB is a tough kid who, by the looks of it, is a winner and a leader and his guys follow him. It's a fun brand of football to watch.

That doesn’t mean you jump at the first payday. I highly doubt he would turn a program like Auburn down if we came calling, but I also highly doubt he jumps at a program like Kansas since it’s pretty much career suicide and he’s got a good thing going.

My only reservation with Clark is waiting to see how he does without a bunch of JUCOs and guys that were kicked off P5 teams. He was forced to go that route due to the team being shut down, but in a perfect world I’d like to see if he can build something with HS guys.

They played an established team. UAB is in their 2nd year after getting their program SHUT DOWN! They should be losing to everyone they play, instead, they are 8-1. That's coaching.

As the post above yours says, its also with a bunch of JUCO guys, and guys kicked off other FBS teams. Not saying what he has done at UAB isnt awesome. It is, but he isnt exactly doing it with guys he recruited from high school. Like has been said, this IS just year 2 after the program was shut down.

I'm willing to bet that most of the teams at the upper tier of the group of 5 do it in a similar fashion as Clark.

You may be right. I dont pay G5 teams any attention. But the fact remains he is doing it with a majority of players who signed somewhere else out of high school.

Man... that sounds familiar... i don't want another coach who relies heavily on transfers.

Clark is a defensive guy, Gus is an offensive guy. Defensive minded guys, in my opinion, are better talent evaluators. Their job is to stop the other team and they look for the right pieces to do that. Gus is an offensive guy stuck in a scheme that's 10 years old, and everyone has figured it out.

Are you implying Bill Clark's current resume is better than Gus?

Because that's definitely not true. He may have more potential and may eventually prove he's the better coach, but "Bill Clark has went on to become a successful college HC" sounds kinda silly when you're comparing him to a guy who has won the SEC, played for the title, won the SECW, etc.

Make no mistake however, I don't want Gus anymore than I want Bill Clark.

They also did so with their backup qb who happens to be a redshirt freshman.

While I'm not ready to bring him to the Plains, I cannot disagree more with this statement. Gus is a scheme guy, who lives, and dies, by his game plan. Clark is relationship guy. He invests in his players and as a result, they would run through a brick wall for him. I see him more of a Scott Frost type of guy and hopefully he is watching Frost's growing pains this year and learning from them.

I am STATING that at Clark's current point in his career, his resume is much better than Gus' at the same point. Gus was a HC coach for exactly ONE year before taking over the reins at Auburn. Clark has been a successful coach in HS ball, D-2 ball, and now D-1 ball. Gus was the HC at Arky State for one year before becoming the HC at a P5 program in the toughest conference, and toughest division, in the country. Bill Clark would coach circles around Gus. Watching Gus' antics on the sideline, makes me think he may be slightly retarded.

I don't give a flying frick where he gets players. I'm not content with multiple 7-5 and 8-4 seasons. We've got a ton of 4* talent on offense. How many rushing yards did we have against TAM & UGA?
