Are they messing with you? Will no one tell you something one way or the other? That is hilarious.

Maybe you were fired some time ago and they just now fixed the glitch that was allowing paychecks to be sent and systems access allowed. Seems feasible?

lot of companies do that to keep you from downloaded confidential/sensitive information. they may still expect you to come to work.

That's why you download any needed/wanted files before handing in your notice.

I quit my last job, it was the first one I had after serving Uncle Sam, it was one of the most liberating things I’ve experienced. I genuinely disliked my boss, I wanted to rearrange his face. The best part is that I negotiated a severance and took 5-6 weeks off of work. That was last September, I felt like I had retired.

I am in prison and have been trying to get them to walk me out for 5 years now. Have not tried a two week notice. Will do one as soon as I get library time Saturday.

I walked from a pretty lucrative gig. Now I'm making about half what I would be making if I'd stayed.

Best decision I ever made.

Typical to lock you out post notice. However, they are required to pay you the two weeks plus any accrued vaca time. If they don't you are in the right line of work and have yourself as your first client! Pretty standard to lock you out as they don't want you to steal clients or take their data. (Should have done that before the notice. Remember for the future, but as I am in Security, we would have figured out what you did and sued you...so in short...best that you just got locked out)

It’s why you should always get a backup of your files about every 3-6 months and never right before you leave.

but as I am in Security
I was your worst nightmare.

I was sys admin over (mainframe/legacy systems) and a network admin (LAN and WAN), and top level ACF (db) administrator. Was also top-level support for print systems, such as maintaining (had personally re-designed) payroll checks, as well as W2's, and kept a very secured emergency copy of comptrollers digitized signature. Was also guy in charge of changing most passwords on system-level accounts, and so much more (since I was everyone's backup for 9-member top level systems support)... was told keep the parking pass and hold onto the company ID because I might want to pick up my last check and say good bye in person.

They were completely caught off guard and potentially so screwed I doubt they ever empower such a security risk ever again (was a many thousand person company). They had inadvertently offered a blanket severance package in conjunction with a reorg and didn't intend for it to happen... can you say goodbye*!!!!

*(7 of 9 did) - I walked back into VP's office to pickup last check in tattered Liberty overall's and he just smiled.

Best money I’ve ever spent in my entire life. Well worth the time and effort. Also sent both of my kids to have the testing when they were seniors in high school. Extraordinarily helpful.

Update: my file access was restored. Think he is going to let me finish out the month. I am wearing jeans and an Auburn shirt to work today. My employer lost $2,000 yesterday by locking me out...but that’s on him.

Super cool. Does your business take into account age and how people’s preferences change over time? I didn’t realize I wanted to do law until my late 20s
