Honestly, I have been miserable for a while and have been secretly hoping something would happen to force me to leave. Finally just pulled the switch. Finances gonna be tight for a bit. Good thing a really good friend of mine gave me four tickets to the AU LSU game three rows from the field.

I wasn't making lite of your situation. I wish you well in your job search...

I went out on my own after 12 years of Electronics Engineering. I basically worked for two companies after college and both of them relocated and I was released from the first one on the last day then asked to relocate for the second one to Milwaukee.

Was a no from me dawg

After that, I just never went back to work. Started doing whatever I am doing now.

Just trying to be like you Lanier. You are living the dream. There are endless possibilities now that I am going on my own. At least I get to write my own destiny now - will win or lose by my own sword.

Oh yeah, they’re definitely going to lock you out of your files. I’m surprised they’re allowing you in the building right now

I work in IT Security. The day an employee turns in a resignation we walk them out. Just procedure for us.

I would not recommend that

I mean. Not really. Fishing was a great way to make some money, get my name out there but there are sooooooo many negatives to it. The tackle business will eventually fund my retirement that I failed to save enough for during my young years.

It is a means to an end and I work way to much at it. It requires it. Dont do that

I'm in banking. If a lender turns in their notice, they are immediately escorted from the building. Marketing, HR person or teller? Meh, they can stay.

Just depends on the degree of exposure one's position could cause. Not sure if they'd let me stay or not in my position.

Yeah I don’t think it’s unusual for them to walk you out after a two weeks is put in

I did an extensive investigation before restarting my career. I left the family business (thanks Obamacare). In the course of my investigation as to what I should do, I interviewed a bunch of people I considered successful. 95% of the time, those people WOULD NOT recommend whatever they did for a living to another person. It got to where I stopped asking.

What did you do? You are right - I will do everything in my power to convince my two daughters never to go into law. :)

Put in my two weeks notice and next thing I know my employer cuts off all access to my files and doesn’t even respond to my resignation. Awesome start to my day!!

The first time I saw this it was almost a culture shock for me but it’s pretty standard operating procedure for lenders and underwriters.
