Our guys could’ve folded after being down ten against Virginia and called it a good season, but we fought back to take a late lead in the game. The loss hurts and can be partially blamed on the refs but this is not about that. This is an appreciation thread for Bryce and the seniors, and for the rest of the players. Despite showing an impressive chemistry that started brewing after the Kentucky loss, and despite playing like our heads were on fire, we were counted out many times all post season and picked off a lot of good basketball teams along the way. As for my shout outs:

Bryce Brown: Dude stepped up and made big shots tonight and put us in position to win when we were down 10. It was a pleasure watching our favorite sharpshooter play even when he was sometimes jokingly called Cousin Brick. He now owns the SEC record for most 3s in a season with 140+ threes, and is second all time in the SEC.with the most 3 point field goals in a collegiate career. Salute.

Harper: Our little general was one of three that played sick today. He was cramping and dehydrated but gave it his all. There is some recency bias but I believe he will be honored one day, possibly with a banner. Should be back.

Malik Dunbar and Horace Spencer: Fellow seniors that played with energy, athleticism, and toughness. Their impact on our team far exceeds their box score. Malik didn’t play well today, but he was recruited to be and played like a shot of toughness injected into our team. Both are gone.

Jvon and Purifoy: Both went from guys that I thought could maybe leave after the season to solid bench players and real assets to our team. Jvon’s quickness and ability to drive are elite and Purifoy became a key defender throughout the tournament. Both should be back.

Samir Doughty: silky smooth offensive player with above average defense. Unfortunately he will be known for the foul, but he fit the chemistry of our offense and helped made our offense tick. He should be back

Mclemore and Wiley: both were hampered by injuries or slowed down by previous injury. Still, both turned it up some in the postseason and played well at times. Both should be back.

Chuma: our best player and effective on both ends of the court. Would’ve impacted the game tonight by guarding Jerome if not for his ACL injury against UNC. He is a great kid that deserves all the praise that goes his way. He is a first round talent that should be coming back.

Hell yeah. A song from a fan will have a place reserved in our memories of this great season. Can’t even make it up.
