Gus makes his arse quit like Dye did Bear, Smart is promoted only to be revealed as the love child of Mike Shula & Bill Curry, While the GusBus completely dominates the SEC?

Not that I've thought about this just throwing it out there

Pumped. Gus and Marshall will start to generate a whole lot of excitement around October next year. We'll end up 8-4ish and with a full year to recruit, the Garner/Craig duo will be raking them in. We'll push for the number 1 class and expectations will be high for 2014. It's an even year so we'll finish 10-2 or so.

Yeah, I'm pretty bullish on AU right now. I'm thinking you guys are underestimating an entire program committed to Gus and the HUNH, plus a staff of very good recruiters, the two main draws being former AU players.

Really we just have to win a game we aren't supposed to. Its been awhile since that's happened. If Gus can get our D back to AU style - we'll win a Natty because he's going to score a bunch of points.

I think this is exactly what I've been trying to say . . . The question now is how long will it take us to bounce back?

Considering in the past 30 years or so we've never had more than 2 poor seasons in a row, I think it's safe to say not long.

We'll be back up to 7 wins or so this season, and be back to being solid the following season as long as we have decent QB play.

The year Chizik took over we were in the 15-20 range in recruiting, and the following year we were in the top 5.

It's amusing that people want to act like a bunch of chicken littles just because things are happening like normal.

Our staff is excellent, and we have a top notch offensive coach. Really no reason we can't be back in the swing of things quickly with decent development.

Auburn is never down long, and football is cyclical. I think Auburn will be a respectable 7 or 8 win team next year (especially if we get average quarterback play), and have a good recruiting class in 2014.

The one thing that is working against Auburn is while football is cyclical and 99.9% of programs have ups and downs....Saban does not. Bama is going to be a powerhouse until he retires and for a couple of years after.

Also, Les has things rolling at LSU.

I can't remember a time when the road to Atlanta was tougher. I don’t expect to dominate the SEC West, but Auburn fans will not be happy very long fighting for 3rd in the West. Gus has to find a way to get respectable first (2 years for this) and then get to Atlanta once every 4.5 years or the natives will get restless.

I agree.

I'm hoping to see us be competetive with the top teams (i.e. Bama, UGA, LSU), win out against the rest, with a few SEC Championship appearances. I think this is reasonable based upon Auburn's history

I don't think I can stomach another season of blow-out/shut-out loses against our biggest rivals

Frankly I feel like I did before the 2009 season, anxious but hopeful.

I thought the Chizik era was the 2nd coming of the Barfield era?

Chixik was the manic-depession era of AU football; from the highest of high to the lowest of lowest in the course of two seasons. That has to be some kind of record.
