Reading the OT thread on the Church of the Highlands, saw where he was going to be lead pastor. Last I had heard of him was getting arrested a decade ago.

That dude is just pissed his money train is about to dry up. Once that church starts pouring money into the community, with a black lead pastor, his shtick is up.

quote:

"The Bible says love your neighbor as yourself," Jordan said. "If you don't want to live next door to me, and be my neighbor, why do you want to come over and plant a church in my neighborhood?"

I think my man missed the point.

CoH is an interesting Church that has reached many people. It is not for me, it certainly feels cult like. However, I think what they are trying to do in this case is a good thing and I support them 100%. The Black Minister is preaching, segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever when it comes to Churches. Shame.

Wonder if we could have serious, non-stupid discussion about why you believe that here without it getting whacked?

ETA-didn't intend to imply that you were stupid, just that topics like this tend to devolve into stupidity.

As a member of COTH I can assure that it is not a cult. I was once skeptical about it and also thought it was a cult or cultish. I checked it out personally and it’s just a really big, cool, relevant church. My kids love it too. Proud of Mayo! War Eagle!

Not a huge fan of CoH/Hodges, but I do like that they are making an attempt to Branch out into lower socio economic areas + have an African American pastor

I have attended often. COTH is not for everyone, but no Church is. I do find it cultish, they are very organized.
