Will Hastings having the Auburn football program record in the 20 yard shuttle run as a walk on kicker still blows my mind.
From what I have heard Nix can nearly beat it which is impressive. Nix is probably among the fastest on the team w/in first ten yards of the sprint

The melts on this board when Joey has to come off the bench in the Oregon game are going to be SPECTACULAR.......
Please note: the above statement is satire and should be taken as such.

Bo is definitely faster than Will Hastings. Will Hastings doesn't have great straight line speed. INCREDIBLY agile and great on the cones though.

There have been several writers & insiders that have said Bo is "one of" the fastest guys on the team.

Yep, hope to see him running the clock out up 3TD's late in the 3rd.

What were we saying about Jeremy Johnson in August 2015?

I will have my doubts of Nix as a genuine dual threat until I see Bo maneuvering and sprinting away from defenders in a game against real opponents.
But his acceleration is really impressive in HS film. Him accelerating away from HS defenders::Cam doing the same against college players. I'm not comparing the two at all, just remarking how deceptive it is to watch guys you might not expect to be able to turn on the jets do so.

@DanWolken
Tim Tebow just said on ESPN that God made Bo Nix specifically for Gus Malzahn’s offense.

Screw it. I’m all in on Bo. He’s gonna be a freaking stud and y’all can jump on board if you want but we are leaving the station soon.

Bo isn’t what I wanted but he’s the guy now and has some qualities that Joey didn’t have, so screw it, I’m all in.

Track speed =\= football speed
As an aside to this, I always thought shuttle speed was a better analog to “football speed” than the 40 is. It better models the start/stop/shift of a football game than just running a 40.

Agreed. Give me shuttle and 3-cone more than the 40. The 40 is a good indicator, but not everything.
Especially with something like a zone read QB. the 40 isn't that important until you are getting to at least the second level.

Exactly and Tebow would know about that.

Exactly. Top speed is so rarely hit in a game, and the cat is usually out of the bag by that point (a 30+ yard gain). Accel/decel/accel through a 180 turn gives you a better idea of a game with a bunch of defenders trying to catch you, and speaks more clearly to an ability to shift away from that.
