That is a myth that keeps being put out by the left. Please look up the Dixiecrats that switched parties. There were about 200 or so out there at that time that were actual Dixiecrats. And as far as post civil war, you had many black men elected to congress all over the south. Post that happening is when some laws came into effect in different states to keep them down and they were put into place by democrats.
