This would be the best class we've ever signed in Auburn Basketball History.. 3, maybe 4 would be considered potentially one and done. Amazing if we're able to pull that off.

Bruce has proven to be elite at evaluating talent.

I thought all the Akingbola stuff had been sorted out.

Did we ever figure why Bruce was visiting the Senate this week?

He was up there to speak to the AU DC Club. I think he might've just been touring the Capitol while he happened to be there.

Well, Ruffin just decommitted after 11 days. Just got bumped to #35 overall in 2021. Must be scared of Cooper.

Are we in danger of being named as one of the six programs with major fractions?

Hard to know. I'd imagine we get some type of punishment but it seems unlikely it is major given what we know / how Auburn handled it

What we know
- Never implicated with Shoe/Apparel companies
- Never implicated in pay for play recruitment
- Limited to only 2 players

How AU Handled it
- Only school to go through official NCAA reinstatement process
- Went about process "right way" / cooperated with NCAA by all accounts
- Fired involved coach who had extensive ties to AU

If anything we handled it the best of all schools.

I still say we should tell the NCAA to go frick themselves

We are fine. Just cause Thamel/Forde want to drag our name into every single one of these articles doesn’t mean a thing has changed

Well r/collegebasketball is officially more retarded than the rant, they're convinced Auburn is going to be one of the ones heavy hit and don't even mention LSU when they're discussing potentially sanctioned schools. Idiots

Why wouldn't we face some sort of sanction? We had a coach on staff arranging payments to players on the team. I know we fired the coach and the players served their time and made restitution, but I feel like there would still be some sort of violations coming even if the penalties are minor.

Worst case scenario is that we have to forfeit games they played in during the 2016-2017 season when their eligibility had been compromised

Agreed, I would expect some of the following type charges/ punishments

Charges
- Failure to Monitor: Auburn AD
- Failure to Monitor: Bruce Pearl
- Impermissible Benefits: AU Basketball
- Playing ineligible players: AU Basketball

Likely Potential Punishments

- BBall Program Probation
- Bruce Pearl multi game suspension
- Reduction of scholarships 1-2
- Reduced Staff Off Campus Travel/Visits
- Accepting Wiley/Purifoy 2017/2018 Suspension
- Vacate wins from 2016-17 season
- Chuck Person show cause
- Potential Show cause for staffers who "should have known"

What I'd think very unlikely punishments

- Postseason ban
- Show cause for Bruce Pearl
- Reduction of scholarships > 2
- Vacate wins after 2016-17 seasons

Disagree with a lot of that. Recruiting punishments typically come following violations that provided a competive advantage in recruiting. I suppose a suspension to Bruce is possible (which sucks, because he is truly a victim here and couldn’t have done a thing to stop it except to have had NSA on all of his assistants), but that’s the only major thing I think could come from this aside from vacating wins.

The fact that we have public knowledge from the wiretaps where CP said something along the lines of: “This is technically against the rules so we cannot let Coach Pearl or Auburn know about it, but you need to do this to get to the NBA” is very good for Auburn here
