Let's just say Okoro isn't going to be our Bryce Brown replacement

That’s disappointing. Purifoy was saying he shoots the 3 better than you’d think.

He will need to shoot at a high level ( I don’t know maybe at 38 percent) to be a 3 and D player in the NBA. I’m thinking he might want to play with shariffe anyway.

Bryce is an elite college shooter. Okoro will be fine there but definitely won’t fill it up. Just need him to be just good enough to stretch the defense.

Sharifs should have gone out there and played with them, but that would probably be against recruiting rules

In that setting, yes.

He had a weird looking release and didn't seem to have much feel for it in 3pt contest

He will be closer to Desean Murray two years ago. If he is open I think he could shoot enough to stretch the D but that's it

Was anyone expecting Okoro to replace Brown? They are completely different types of players.

I was more commenting that Okoro isn't a great 3FG shooter.

So in our starting lineup in terms of 3s

PG- McCormick, actually looks good
SG- Doughty, spot up solid but not great off dribble
SF-Okoro, not good
PF: Purifoy, really streaky
C:Wiley , lol

We are just not going to be close to the same team as last year

I mean it was outside on a court they've never shot on..... I wouldn't put much stock, if any, into the shooting and 3 point contest from last night.

Wiley hit 3 in a row for crying out loud. Obviously doesn't mean he's an elite 3pt shooter

I didn't get to watch last night so I don't know the format, but I've seen great shooters look bad in 3 point contests. In fact, I've seen Bryce Brown look bad in 3 point contests.

And that's understandable all things considered. I do believe we are a tournament team though if we get good bench play

I mean, that kind of went without saying though.

We also won't have the Bryce Brown "i'm not shooting well so i'm not going to play defense" streaks either

It'll just come from different spots. A Healthy Purifoy gets just as streaky as Bryce did.

We're are going to have to win as a bargain valued Kentucky fellas. Defense, Rebounding, playing a lot of players, & using our length which we have some for the 1st time in a long time.

In theory, we should be a bit of a more consistent scoring team. We have so many guys that can drive and get their own buckets, that hopefully we won't have to rely on a ton of deep 3's like we did last year.

We also had to deal with some pretty long droughts when Bryce and Jared were jacking up some bad 3's and not making many. Yes, they would get hot and pour in a bunch quick, but we'd have a lot of long periods without any real scoring.

Who? I hope you're right I'm just not sure I see it yet.

Jvon and Turbo I think can. Samir can too although he has trouble finishing over long defenders.

Jvon, Turbo, Okoro all three can.

Doughty can at times, but he is better at driving and dishing.

Then mix in Stretch, Wiley, Maclemore, an Williams around the rim.

I kind of look forward to having a team that doesn’t have to rely on draining 3s to win every game.

This team is young, so they will have some troubles, but this is one of the more complete teams we've had in a long time in regards to skill sets. Lots of length, lots of different things that can be done offensively.

I see a lot of similarities in play style to the 06/07 Florida team. Obviously that team was crazy talented, not saying we will be that good. Just watching them play though, I think we should be able to do a lot of similar things.

Notice Of Allegations tidbit from AUC...

quote:

Auburn officials expect to, at some point get a notice of allegations from the NCAA, but they don’t expect it to be soon and they don’t expect it to have program-changing implications when it arrives. It could be a year or even longer, though no one knows anything for sure about the NCAA.

There is no indication that there is more to it than what is already widely known.
