Yep. Tom Rinaldi was the speaker for the piece on Toomer's Corner for Sportscenter and the entire time I couldn't help but think he has no fricking clue what those oaks mean to Auburn.

Unless you lived it, they would not understand the meaning of those trees... But the tradition will continue forever...

Well its ESPN, what do you expect? They probably bring in Pawwwl next and ask how this effects the numerous NCAA investigations at Auburn

Walk of champions was a tiger walk knockoff. We were one of the first schools in the country to start doing something like that if I recall correctly.

We had been doing it for many years in the 1980's, but the day it exploded was Dec 2, 1989.

Biggest Tiger Walk in AU history still I would guess. I was a little kid and nearly died. Got separated from my dad and granddad and about got trampled to death in the histeria. I mean it was a surging mardi gras on burbon street hysterical mob scene when the players walked out of Sewall Hall towards the stadium. Scared me and I finally found my dad and granddad back at the car at the end of Donahue an hour later when things had sorta calmed down.

Found this as well. TW started in the 1960's apparently.

quote:

The history of the now infamous Tiger Walk dates back to the 1960s when young children would approach football players on their way to the stadium in an effort to collect autographs from their idols. It was former head coach Doug Barfield (head football coach at Auburn from 1976-1980) who is individually credited with encouraging fans to come out and support their players before they arrived at the stadium. Although a number of schools have since taken up some form of this tradition involving cheering on players as they enter the stadium (including SEC rivals the University of Tennessee and the University of Florida) it is Auburn that is credited with developing this popular pregame ritual.

In all of college football those are the "traditions" they chose? Dear God.

Twitter gets more stories right a day than selena roberts does in three years and its not a credible enough source to get the dj fluker story flowing on espn? When au players say they get payed its front lines when bama players say it nobody says a word. So freakin sick of dEadSPiN
