Football is all about QB play. We have two kids at that position that haven't taken a meaningful snap in a college football game. That alone should keep everyone from getting too excited
This right here. My buddy at work was singing the praises of this year's team after this article. I asked who was playing QB and how many SEC games any of them have won.
I refuse to believe anything about this team until about week 7 of the season.

Lolz, like thinking this team might be good is going to be life altering or devastating if they aren’t?
So many drama queens up in hurr.

??? Where did I say anything like that?
I've seen the hype before about Auburn teams with big questions. I just happen to feel like QB is a big question at the moment...
Nothing life changing or anything, but this is the Auburn Sports Board, is it not? And we are talking about Auburn sports, no?

You mean the Auburn sports where we played for the SEC just two years ago, the Auburn sports where AU played in the Final Four, and now playing in the CWS?
Don’t be the battered wife man.

I honestly have no clue wtf you are trying to get at. All I said was I'm not gonna believe the hype surrounding this years team. There are several unproven commodities on the offense (looking at you OL and QB). Sorry you dont like that I guess.
And 2 years ago dont mean shite when talking about the upcoming year. Final fours and CWS have no bearing on anything Luginbill is talking about so...
We are talking football here my dude.

in about a month
Anyone know what’s happened to beatbammer? I may have missed it but haven’t seen that cranky old man in a bit.

I would love to get excited about an upcoming football season but I just can’t.
Gus either has no success or he has success based on one player. Then we are one injury away from losing to any team on the schedule.
He has to show me he can beat Coach O, Beat Kirby or Saban more than once every 5 years, and not drop a game to bad teams.

Not saying I disagree, but this was true in 2010 and 2013 as well.
Both of those guys were Juniors. Not a true freshman or a redshirt freshman

Was a generational QB. As good as Nix and Gatewood are, neither was considered a generational QB

Tua took meaningful snaps in 1/2 of 1 game.
Good call on Winston though. I didnt realize he was a freshman that season.

Same for Fromm at UGA in '17, who wasn't even good enough to win the starting job.

Both QB's benefitted from an OL and RB's who could control the game from start to finish. If we have that I bet either of our kids could make a play here or there, but Gus has shown he needs more than management out of his QB's to win at a high level.

I can’t wait to read all you miserable fricks comments all year. Gus could be 6-0 with all blow out wins and you chodes will find something to bitch about or give credit elsewhere.
This team should be good. The staff has recruited well. Agree with everyone else that the QB position is usually the difference in wins and losses against above avg competition.

He got hosed by Jeremy Pruitt at home. Gus has done this to himself. No one has any clue which Gus we will see. I don’t know why it’s so hard for him to get out of his own way, but 3-5 in conference play, and you don’t get why people are done with him? We’re paying the guy $49 million for those results. Nevermind the fact we’ve had near top 10 talent for years now.

Exactly. Even after 2014, I gave the man the benefit of the doubt. But 8-5 after 8-5, with several head scratchers of "how tf did they lose that game?!," terrible records against our biggest rivals, etc. has earned him the right to be criticized.

I really want him to succeed, but going 0-3 against Orgeron, Pruitt and Moorehead last year - with two of those at home - is hard to defend. You can't tell me those three teams had more raw talent at their disposal than we did.

Should have canned him after LSU 2017 and avoided his insane contract. Had all the momentum then, and people were stil mad about his horrible play calling and loss to Clemson.

It is what it is, and we're stuck with him now for the foreseeable future.
