I think LSU having Florida and @ MSU before us may wear them down some.

I hope Gus and this team finally makes a statement and ends the 20 year streak in BR.

Other notes of interest, will be how our secondary holds up against Burrow throwing all over the place.

That's all I want. A competitive game.

Most likely not happening this year

LSU Plan -

Spread set
5 yard slants over the middle
Gain 15 yards
Repeat
Profit

I agree. If it's not in JHS he usually doesnt win.

I cant remember the last time I experienced a big road win over one of our rivals.

The number of points AU needs to score for a win is 41, imo.

Hard to believe but Bama in 2010 was the last time we had a big road win. That's pathetic.

Upon further thinking I guess 2013 Texas A&M and 2014 Ole Miss were pretty big wins at the time but not against our rivals.

Last great victory was 2013 with NM beating Manziel at ATM.

WIll we be competitive against LSU...Yes.

But we will also be frustrated...as this is another game where a strong D in LSU (even if they aren't as strong)..will be the same type game Gus' struggles with offensively, if we can't run the ball.

I have realized again now after the FL game, that the Gus' offensive scheming and philosophy will again make us frustrated by a sputtering offense against teams we need to beat.

Sorry for the rant..

Beating LSU on the road is like the Atlanta Braves making it out of the NLDS. I will never predict either to happen until it happens again in my lifetime.

Agree with the negative sentiment here. Weakness in middle of the field coverage with our safeties, MLBs, and Iggy getting picked on vs Burrow could be a bad day.

However, two things in our favor here are that Gus has Arkansas to figure out his running back situation, though the OL may negate that at LSU; and between playing Texas and Florida, there's some good tape for both sides of the ball for AU to watch. There's also time now for Gus and Nix to work on getting calls in and adjustments made faster in a hostile road environment, though some of that was the referees holding the snap and have to hope based on Gus comments post-game to put Nix in better positions doesn't translate to conservative calls.

IMO need to lineup Canela closer to the OL and run mismatch routes on LBs, and run Hastings in the short middle w/ NFL Beasley type routes, but that doesn't happen much as we don't throw over the middle, and need an off-tackle run game for that to work. Need to shift Nigh back as a FB to pound the ball IMO and if pulling Guards on sweeps, they need to get out there, recognize first threat and put a hat on fast OLBs and SSs a lot quicker than against UF.

I agree on routes within 10 yards of the LOS to give Nix some better percentage throw decisions. And Canella and Hastings running those routes would help. And I have seen routes where the WR does go around the middle, but it doesn't look like that offensive call is the 1st option. So it's going to be up to Nix to look at his progressions. Asking a lot of a TF who got befuddled, lacked confidence, and was just too much in a hurry in the FL game.

But if our offense sputters w/ so many 3 and outs, it will be a long game in BR...:(

I refuse to answer the question until
I see how the RB carries are distributed against Arkansas.

If DJ Williams gets less than 10 carries vs the pigs - then Gus will get blown out by LSU.

If DJ gets 20 carries and runs well, we have a chance.

I do agree that DJ is our best all round back I have seen, given the limited carries I have seen.

If he is healthy, I expect Gus to try Martin, Shiver, and even Miller (yuk). But Gus may have a problem w/ overusing his best back, but he usually finds the best 3 down back, based on his history.

And he has hinted that DJ is that guy, but as green as he is, Gus tends to be too cautious in using a FR. But DJ has been here even during the spring, so other than his missing practices b/c of injury, he knows the playbook.

But the problem is going to be if our OL gives us a chance no matter who is back there with the rock...

NCM has 13 catches. 264 yards, and one TD in just over 3 games. Last night was his fourth game played but got injured early on and only had one catch.

. . . if so it'd mean Gus has finally found another way or person to produce a running game without Boobee.

Which also means:

• he should be publicly castrated for not finding it sooner
• and that'd be a small loss since he's never had enough balls to develop a what-if plan . . . without injury forcing him into it
• and two-thirds will automatically down vote this post because it might negatively impact recruiting.
