I was just thinking that the ncaa might make an exception and allow teams to go over their limit and add a few players this year due to the corona virus. Just for this year because of the virus.

The punter can play this year as a blue shirt and count on the 2021 class. He should be in Auburn Aug 1st.

From everything else I’ve read on blue Shirts I’m not sure that fan sided article is correct. Can you link that for me also?

Thanks Steeler. I found what I needed from al.com surprisingly enough. I first looked in the NCAA handbook & found Oscar's situation as a nonrecruited athlete but it didn't say anything about whether they could play in year 1 or not. I then found this from al.com with specific examples of blue shirts playing year 1.

quote:

Lee Dufour, a current UAB offensive lineman, was a blueshirt in 2014. He took an unofficial visit to the school and his high school, Saraland, celebrated his signing. But he wasn't listed as a UAB signee that February although he went on scholarship in August, counting as part of the 85 that year but his initial counted toward the 2015 numbers. He started two games that fall at center

South Alabama added four blueshirt receivers this season: Sa'Mory Collier, Jordan McCray, Kawaan Baker and Ralphael Barr.

McCray and Collier both played this year,

FWIW Jhead from the bunker, he usually has pretty good info, says he likes where AU sits with Kool-Aid as of today.

Keith says UGA may have taken the lead for 3* CB Kamari Lassiter. Even though he is playing in Alabama he grew up in Georgia.

Keith says Nyland Green & Clemson aren't communicating much so Clemson is fading. This has become an AU, UGA, & Vols race.

I'm counting on Bruce to be the push that gets us over the top with Kool-Aid.
