I honestly don't get it. Someone please give me legitimate reasons why this is a good hire for AU.
This is his college record:
2009 - 7-6 - 4-4
2010 - 8-5 - 5-4
2011 - 10-2 - 7-2
2012 - 7-6 - 5-4
2013 - 3-2 - 0-2 (didn't coach the entire year BECAUSE HE WAS FIRED BEFORE BOARDING THE TEAM BUS)
2017 - 11-3 - 8-0
2018 - 3-3 - 1-1
49-27 including stops at two schools in easier conferences
Gus' record is 58-27 with same number of years as a college HC.
I think I'm finally off the Gus bus, but Lane Kiffin isn't the answer.

There really isn't a magic bullet.
Auburn is a tough place to win consistently. We aren't the marque program. We have bama to our West and uga to our East plus FSU, LSU, Florida, etc...
Gus IMO gets a worse wrap than he deserves, but the fundamental lack of cohesiveness in his loses is why. Not sure the record would be significantly different under anyone else the last 6 years, most would be worse. However, there is something about the way things go under Gus that is off.

I don’t know who I would want, but right now I believe the answer is he is not Gus

It really doesn't matter at this point, we are stuck with Gus for several more years.

I don't think we should go 'Kiffin or bust" but I do think he would be an attractive coaching candidate
Also, factoring in Gus' buyout, Kiffin would likely be one of the cheapest candidates available which would mute the buyout dilemma

I wouldn't mind west Virginia's coach. His scheme seems like it would mesh well with auburn's talent.

I'd also point out that Kiffin's price tag would be significantly less than other top candidates.
I'm no longer totally against Kiffin. I do agree that there is no sure candidate. We would most likely need to grab a cheap up and comer and hope he pans out.

Not a Lane guy. However, his record would actually support his coaching skills. He took over some terrible situations at UT and USC. He has done well at FAU. Take away the P5 L's he has had, FAU has maybe lost 1 vs similar foes.

No he does. He has put out the same crap for 4 years now, outside of the 6 game stretch to end last season.
The issues we had in 2015 and 2016 are all of a sudden back in 2018. Dude is an absolute joke.

He's worked with or under:
Pete Carrol
Steve Sark
Norm Chow
Nick Saban
Clay Helton
Jimmy Chaney
Eddie Gran
Ed O (lolz)
He had a part in one of the best offenses ever seen in college football (USC).
Saban hired him to fix Alabama's offense
He turned around Tennessee's offense in his first year there
He took over a USC team that was on NCAA restriction and beat the hell out of everyone with them. Set records with Matt Barkley
He knows talent and gets the most of it.
Recruiting would be top notch.
Offense would be top notch.
Qbs would be top notch.
Lets be honest. If we want to beat Alabama and UGA from here on out we aren't going to do it with a 17 to 13 score.

Yep. As much as it pains me to think about it, he wouldn't be an awful hire. Recruiting would be very good. Offensively we know what he is capable of. As long as he can make a good DC hire and let that DC run the defense, he can do well.

I'd argue that the same issues we see this year have been evident every single year Gus has been head coach.

Yeah, I don't get the Kiffin obsession at all.
Unless the people who want him are program-suicidal and just want to end it all in a flashy bang.

he's high risk/potentially high reward
would certainly be flashy and entertaining
