Lighten up Francis. Its just a joke. It doesnt matter what happens now. Jacobs is at fault and Green can do no wrong. We already know the narrative.

Which is a problem because as of 2018, these were our profit numbers the past four years:

2018 $7.8M
2017: $14.6M
2016: $15.2M
2015: $9.2M

Is that the whole AD net? Didn’t Gus make $7mil from ‘17 to ‘18?

I have a feeling these current revenue streams aren't going to last for an extended period. Hopefully this is just a tactic to try to reduce expenses.

Most College athletic budgets operate like normal government bureaucracy, if you don't spend it, you won't have access in the next year, which is not financially sound. The school cant just collect more taxes.

Pretty sure his base salary is $500,000. Doesn’t the AD only pay the base salary?

Yes. The other money comes from speaking fees/revenue generated from corporate money.

I have no idea why they're doing it, of course, but it could be prudent. This bubble is going to burst sooner rather than later. College Football is the biggest producer and it's no secret that attendance and ratings are suffering over the last few years. I expect it to continue to drop. The same freaking 5 or 6 teams are in the CFP every year and people are bored.

College football sees largest decline in 34 years

Easy answer is cost. I tried to get 4 tickets to the lower bowl endzone of the AU Tennessee game last season, it was $800. Who wants to pay that to watch Gus go Full Feildgoal Gus at any given game of the year?

The AD office has been bloated for years and now ADAG wants to cut 10% of the fat and people are screaming. This will lead to jobs not being filled, etc. Doubt they actually have a layoff. I have seen nothing official about this.

You cannot fire a board, but you can slowly replace them. The bigger reason would be the Leath hire and those involved (Not the entire board was involved)

ETA: I do not see how this has anything to do with the board. They do not micro-manage budgets, etc. and have not demanded this. Leath went on a huge building spree and did not mind borrowing to do it. You can only borrow so much.

from this example it sounds like there isnt a decline. @$200 per, thats well above face value. So obviously the demand is there.

Nobody is screaming about the AD office being cut.

They are wanting all program budgets cut as well. That is what people don't like.

A 10% cut across the board, not just to the AD office is a concern.

that is a very high amount in this day and time of supposedly economic boom.

I can understand a 2-4% cut just for fat, but when you go 10% that is considered high.

What in the AD is prompting this, if it is true? Anyone on the inside of the AD have an opinion?

This is a good point. Take a look at the schedules for some of the "non-revenue" sports. I support competing at the highest level for all sports, not just the traditional "major" sports, but it looks like a pretty fair amount of air travel for out of conference competition in their respective regular seasons. Little point in flying to Cali (for example) when elite level competition is a van ride away.

If you haven't controlled your budget for a decade, 2-4% isn't enough to cut all the fat.

This.

TV revenues will eventually have to drop as well. The amount spent on collegiate sports is unsustainable, both live and televised.
