Are you just shot-gunning out random names at this point, in hopes of naming the next coach correctly by naming every possibility?
Whole lot of crazy up in this thread. All I'm seeing is coaches we would never get, due to the current situation, or completely unqualified.
Let me let you in on a little secret, NOBODY here typed out "Brian Harsin" on this message board before he was announced. Wonder why that was? Did Greene actually think Harsin was the best guy for the job, OR was that the best he could get?
A former coach, at the highest level, former OC for the Patriots, now a coordinator for a perennial national championship school. He's also the QB coach for a guy who won the Heisman as a sophomore. But hey, let's not consider someone like that. shite, we need more Prime posts!

I hope he is. Maybe he will go to Nebraska if he’s so good he can turn them around and we won’t Abe to worry if he’s such a great coach. Gets him out of Bama and in another conference.
If we get anyone from Bama it will be Charles Kelly

And that is? Former HC at Penn State. Former HC for the Texans. Current OC under Saban. Current coach of a Heisman winner.
Current OC at Alabama that’s not producing and everybody wants fired

Terry Bowden, Chizik also won coach of the year but I don’t want them either. I think Tubs did as well. Seems at one point we were the leader for head coaches with the most Bryant award winners. It was kind of like licking a lemon

I want one of two things out of the next coach:
1) Elite recruiter that will bring excitement back to the program
OR
2) Elite offensive schemer that can adapt.
Deion fits the first one. Kiffin fits the second one so happy with either of them.

Pitt had many years experience, as a position coach. What makes a position coach more qualified to take on a head coaching job at a major program?
Seeing how the best of the best do it at major programs. Seeing what does and does not work.
He has worked for and with a bunch of good to great coaches (Rex Ryan, John Harbaugh, Butch Davis, Jerry Kill, Kirby Smart). And he's also been on the other end and seen how what doesn't work ( Bert, John Blake at OU, Derek Dooley).
For lots of his tenure he wasn't just an OL coach either. He has had numerous titles such as OL, Co-Oc, Run coordinator, etc. Even a couple stints as an interim HC.
To compare Deion and Pittman's couching careers doesn't make sense. You can point to Deion's playing career and the guys he played for, but that's different as you're looking at it from a players perspective. He wasn't in the coaches meetings. He didn't see the behind the scenes stuff. He got his assignments from his coaches and went from there. That's a lot different than actually formulating game plans to exploit strengths and weaknesses of opponents and covering up your own teams weaknesses. It's two different mindsets. I'm not saying Deion can't or even won't be a good coach down the road. But he's pretty solidly in the unknown category right now. And, imo, that is not what AU needs right now.

Rhule
Tyson Helton
Luke Fickell
Stoops
Not in any order. These guys seem to have turned around the programs they coached. Not 100% on how well they recruit but couldn't be worse than Harsin. I wouldn't be opposed to Deion if he has some homerun coordinators. Maybe he could be figure head, recruiter, dB coach.

Mullen maybe? The first half he schemed against dream team LSU was damn exciting.

He signed the #1 CB and the number 6 WR to Jackson State Mississippi.
You tell me if he is a good recruiter.

Think about the thought process you subscribe to:
You want a guy with less than two years coaching experience at the collegiate level. AND, that experience is at a SWAC school! You disregard another guy who has won national awards, coached under some of the biggest names in all of football, been an NFL HC and the Penn State HC, and coached a sophomore into winning the Heisman Trophy.
Some of y'all are actually dismissing one coach over his resume as an NFL coach, his offensive stats after 3 games on an undefeated team who just played for the national championship, and promoting another guy with almost zero resume. Let that sink in.

quote:It's widely documented how he did that. Big NIL money and pushing the race-factor. He's going out and telling black athletes they should attend an HBCU. What's he going to say if he goes to work for a non-HBCU? You get a kid looking to go to the next level, and is being recruited by people who can print out a list of players they've coached that they put in the NFL. How is Sanders going to counter that?

How would Bill Clark counter? Deion was the NFL. Saban knows about the NFL. Deion didn’t need the HBCU to be Deion. He was Deion long before HBCU.
Sure he needed NIL money to sign the number one player in the nation. King Bruce needs NIL money. Saban needs NIL money. Your point?
