Thoughts?

IMO this is one of the dumbest things Auburn submits itself to. We should absolutely break up these 2 games further than a week apart. Both teams are, and have been, very good for a while and having them sandwich a bye or a G5 team just isn't good for Auburn. On top of having to beat two top 10 programs in 3 weeks, now you have to win an SEC title game, then beat 2 more top 4 teams to win a Natty. That's just a murderers row.

Agree? Disagree?

I just hate that the season basically has no good home game until November in odd years

Then in even there are no good home games in November/Even most of October

It's a great way to end the season when we get them at home, but it really sucks when we are away. Add to the fact what OP stated and I can see the point as valid.

The Georgia game should be played the first or second Saturday in October, IMO.

couldn't agree more. I can't help but imagine if we had a extra week before UGA or switched Ole Miss and UGA

Non-division games should all be played before division games by everybody.

Ideal schedule:
Cream puff
Power 5 home and home
Sun belt
2 SEC east games
Bye week
3 SEC west
Homecoming
3 SEC west

I can get behind this. Before, Amen's Corner wasn't that bad, but for the past decade or so it's really not the fairest scenario for Auburn to finish the season.

As long as the schedule is like it is, where we get both UGA and Bama at home or away, I would be completely for it.

Back in the say, when it was one at home and one on the road, it was great to have a rival at home near or at the end of the season (especially when the games were played on back to back Saturdays). But now, I would be fine with it.

Look at Tennessee's schedule. They get their 3 biggest foes out of the way before Halloween.

Georgia folks will balk at it, probably ask if we skeered.. so just point out when we are healthy we win 40-17... when not lose 28-7.

Why they scared of us being healthy?

At a minimum we need to have one at home and one away. I have always agreed with a Saban that we need more conference games to even the competition out. 10 conference games, two cupcakes. Let the rest of the country figure out their schedule.

Way back in the day (prior to expansion and the move to divisions).

After the move to divisions, the earliest Auburn and Florida played was 2007, when they played September 29th. The latest they played (not counting the SECCG in 2000) was October 19th - in 1996 and 2002.

Hell yes. We had the chance a few years ago, but shite for brains Jay Jacobs got railroaded in negotiations. Then came back strutting like a peacock because he "saved" Amen Corner.

We have more undefeated seasons than any SEC team since 1980, probably 2nd or 3rd in SEC titles, and have two NC appearances. Should have had two more NC shots since 1980 (1983 and 2004).

We can handle Amen Corner and it’s a challenge that I believe inspires the program to work harder in preparing for the season.

You must have heard Pat Dye's interview this morning. He kept on about this.

The problem isn't UGA, cupcake, bama. That is manageable. The problem is UGA, cupcake, Bama, UGA as it seems UGA is poised to take up residence in Atl for the next several years as the East representative. The way Kirby is building UGA as a bama clone with a great D and very stout run game, playing 3 insanely physical and intense games in four weeks is a problem for us. We are going to need "bama" type depth through recruiting to ever win out like that.

You should be making millions...obviously. I wonder why the AU PTB have failed to notice this?

Then get the depth. We might have had it if Pettway wasn’t injured all year. It’s like people forgot we were technically playing with our second string running back all year.

And it’s all cyclical. I really think Saban has a few years left and they’ll drop off. Hopefully this new deal for Gus enables him to secure the top spot in the West once Bama goes back to being a normal team.

Pettway's issues aren't injury-related at this point.

And who cares if it's cyclical. We shouldn't schedule our 2 toughest conference games essentially back to back. Spread that shite out.
