AL.com
This tells me that Gus Malzahn probably has the worst offense in CFB. What say you fine gentlemen?
*Disclaimer: The AL.com article does not directly imply that Bo Nix was the worst freshman QB in CFB. I, BuckFama334, read the article and analyzed the statistics. Through my analysis, I concluded that Bo Nix was statistically the worst freshman QB in CFB. Those who complained regarding this matter can suck a D.

Nix made a bunch of errors, but the more youtube I watch of the 2019 Auburn offense, the degree of difficulty of what he had to do was insane. Some of that is schedule, yes, but A LOT of that was a fundamentally broken system.
Here's to Chad Morris working miracles.

Don’t know but PFF isn’t a fan of Nix.

The only frosh in the country better than Nix was Howell. That is, if you actually saw them play.

Why is this idiot still on the board?

Follow up. PFF has Nix as the 101st rated QB.
From PFF:

101. BO NIX – AUBURN
Preseason Rank: 96; Week 6 Rank: 88; Week 12 Rank: 96
The SEC Freshman of the Year was certainly not in the running to win such an award from us at PFF, as Nix continually didn’t grade well all season long, finishing with 18 turnover-worthy passes (T-28th) to just 17 big-time throws (T-47th). His highlight-reel plays were something, but he was far too often inaccurate with the ball, throwing an uncatchable, inaccurate pass on 26.5% of his throws. He finished as just the 105th-ranked quarterback in passing grade while his 63.0% completion percentage from a clean pocket ranked just 128th. He did some things well, however, as he was rather sharp on throws across the middle of the field, seeing an 81.5 passing grade and completing 93-of-133 passes for 1,036 yards and eight scores on throws targeted between the numbers last season.

One his biggest knocks from PFF was Nix had over 25% of his passes graded as uncatchable. I think that number is inflated by how often he was forced to throw out of bounds. Usually he was making a smart play by throwing it out instead of taking a sack. It's not his fault our OL couldn't keep the pressure off him. I feel like that metric should be adjusted somehow to reflect that.

Didn’t PFF also have our oline rated pretty high? They’re not exactly a perfect metric

To be clear, PFF rated the quarterback productivity at each school. I see it as more of an indictment on Gus and the scheme than on Nix.

I’m in the middle with Nix. I don’t think he is the best thing ever. Don’t think we will for sure win a championship with him unlike Gus, but he had a good enough TF season to scoff at whoever when they want to call Nix trash.

Total on point.
Based on what I have read of the percentages of throws Gus called in his passing offense, most were OUTSIDE of the hash marks.
That means Bo's throws were mostly be to the sideline areas or only around the LOS.
Some of his weakness were his errant throws, but as you pointed out, the passing plays called were to me, not high percentage passes. And were more difficult for Bo.

I'm here. I don't think he has a super high ceiling but I definitely think you CAN win with him and we really SHOULD win a lot of games with him. I'd grade him as Competent Plus

He was towards the bottom or last in nearly every statistical category. Did you read the article?

No. But I did watch the games.

I watched, too. That's my point. Ability-wise, Bo Nix isn't the worst freshman QB in CFB. Malzahn's system through an entire season produced the statistically worst freshman QB in the nation.

OP does suggest that Al.com said Nix was the worst freshman QB in CFB. That’s not the case. You inferred that.
