Hope we can sell him on getting to play the 2 and being the secondary PG

Why would he need to be sold on playing the 2? I've heard on here that Cooper is basically a 1 and done or that's what they say on here. I still think it'll be after his junior year before Cooper is able to enter the draft but every team also needs 2 PGs.

Because it's pretty hard to sell maybe the #1 PG in a class on coming in and being a backup.

Oh, are you doing your "I'm smarter than everyone" routine? The general consensus on here and most places is that Cooper is likely here for at least two years due to his height. He would have to have a pretty ridiculous year for me to see him being a one and done.

I'm glad you think i'm smarter then everyone thanks! Cause i've never said that.

However what's wrong with a little competition for the spot. if they both think they are best then iron sharpens iron. Get outta here with most people think blah blah blah. I've heard how great Cooper is for 2 years now. Give me JD all day over Cooper right now. Cooper is very solid will probably be a backup point guard in the NBA. JD will be a starting point in the NBA.

From who? Most of the Auburn fans I’ve seen everywhere are saying at least two years.

No. You just ooze it in every sentence you make. That may or may not be your intent but that’s how you come across. I know because I do it also sometimes without meaning to.

I don't recall many saying Cooper would be a 1 and done.

But no way a 5* PG is going to come in even for 1 year and backup another 5* PG not knowing if he will leave.

We have enough trouble getting PGs to come backup anyone since Pearl has been here. Just doesn't happen in this day and time...

It didn't stop Quickley and Hagans. They were actually in the same class and no one wasn't slotted for the shooting guard spot either in recruiting because Herro came in the same class. If we want to compete for championships then we have to recruit for championships. Yes I realize that's UK and we are Auburn but to knock off UK you have to beat them in multiple ways, scheme, hustle, work, recruiting...

I do and the generational talent comments. I think Cooper will make a solid SEC point guard nothing special. I think JD is special.

After losing what would have been 1 of our, what, 9 NCAA Tourney appearances last year.. I worry it will be more of the same for this upcoming season.

I think it’s garbage the NCAA couldn’t even announce a field after last season to honor teams with at least a tournament “appearance”

JD > Cooper

As an NBA prospect, yes. He's probably a better scorer too considering Cooper will likely struggle early to score inside some. But Cooper is hands down the better distributor.

I could be just flat out wrong, but it makes way more sense in my mind to have Cooper at the 1 and allowing JD to get buckets at the 2 while still getting some minutes at the 1 as opposed to saying we have to bench one of them.

ETA: They're both likely better scorers than anyone else on the roster right now anyway.

Basically what an insider on the Bunker thought FWIW. Also said JD is a 5*athlete but not a 5* basketball player yet.

Not sure about that. JT Thor was in the top 10 for the 2021 class before he reclassified for a reason. Probably has to do with scoring ability.

In Bruce's system a 5* athlete like JD is just as dangerous as a 5* "basketball player" under Izzo or Tony Bennett (fricker)
