Must be pretty young. The season used to always begin with Kickoff Classics

lright, so with it week 2...judging off the schedule currently set, that means we start with an SEC team week 1.
UNC set for 9/12
Southern Miss is set for 9/26
UMass 11/14
AL A&M 11/21
We will probable play UGA on 11/14 in our traditional spot, then move UMASS to the first game of the year.

ive been wanting to see an Auburn/Iowa matchup in college football since 2009 I remember hoping that we'd face them in the outback bowl instead of Northwestern.
im probably in the minority on this one too but ive always wanted us to schedule a football series with Purdue I met some of their fans a few years back when we played them in baseball they had lots of nice things to say about Auburn. and its fans

im only 26 and I prefer home and home over neutral site games I like our current home and home deals with Cal and Penn State

Agree. I want to see more west-coast games. I think we're all looking forward to the Cal game in Berkeley. It would be great to do another home-home with USC (like in '02 and '03), UCLA, and Stanford.

Great news for North Carolina. They are a lock to be a top ten team that year.

Or maybe move uga to the 7th? Have a couple weeks in between them and Alabama for once

That might be boring for the rest of the fanbase, but I would love that. One of my parents is from Iowa and a big Hawkeye fan along with that whole side of the family
I remember when I was in school we had a home/home with Nebraska. They came to Auburn and kicked our arse. Then we went to Lincoln and got kilt. They were a major powerhouse back then.
Still the nicest fans I have ever encountered on the plains.

Remember it well. 41-7. Trey Gainous got striped on a punt return early, if memory serves, and it went downhill from there. I was a kid and wore a red "Northside" baseball jacket people thought I was pulling for Nebraska. I remember being taken aback.

UNC will likely establish themselves as the next ACC powerhouse by 2020 with our luck. Although Fedora May be going crazy.
But if not, I really don’t mind facing a lower tier ACC opponent. The SECW slate + UGA is punishing enough. The only whiff I see here is that it’s a neutral site and not a home and home, even if the return game is pushed several years out due to current commitments

It's all about the money. These games are paying over $5 million in payouts per team. The city of Auburn might be taking in less without the extra home game but the athletic department is making over 10 mil for 2 years instead of one home game that nets around 2 mil.
(ETA: Auburn will receive 4.2 mil for the Kickoff game this year.)
