I hate these CFA Kickoff games. I'd much rather do a home and home with UNC that this BS again...it's getting old.

Better than our annual home/home with Clemson

A year ago SEC Country listed 7 we may put in that 2020 spot:
USC-Home & home or 1 off neutral
Stanford- 1 off neutral
UNC-1 off neutral
Nebraska-home & home
Iowa-home & home
Duke-Home & home or 1 off neutral
Northwestern-Home & home or 1 off neutral
I wouldve prefered one of the Pac10 teams or Nebraska over unc but happy we didnt end up with duke, iowa or Northwestern

This does not bother me. We needed a one year fix. It is the second week of the season. Next year Dallas vs Oregon. Then a bunch of home and homes.

ETA: Fire Jay Jacobs.

That might be boring for the rest of the fanbase, but I would love that. One of my parents is from Iowa and a big Hawkeye fan along with that whole side of the family

Great news for North Carolina. They are a lock to be a top ten team that year.

My immediate thoughts are in line with what everyone else has said.
Better than Clemson. Would’ve been cooler to work in a home and home. Would have been cooler to play a pac-12 team.

But UNC is a solid opponent, IMO. 8.5/10

I welcome UNC in theory, they just suck as a CFA Kickoff opponent

Similarly, I don't hate CFA in theory (thought it's getting old), but increasingly the games are getting less and less interesting. Louisville and UNC, UVA for UGA, etc. That's some boring shite for a big environment.

Alright, so with it week 2...judging off the schedule currently set, that means we start with an SEC team week 1.

UNC set for 9/12
Southern Miss is set for 9/26
UMass 11/14
AL A&M 11/21

2020 Home: Ark, LSU, TAMU, UK
2020 Away: Bama, UGA, State, Ole Miss

Of those, only 2 currently have an opening for week 1: State & Texas A&M

So we either start week 1 in Starkville, or at home against Texas A&M.

Why don't we pull a Bama and schedule Mercer instead? We already play in the SEC so strength of schedule is never a problem.

Too bad CGC isn't their DC anymore. That would have been an interesting headline.
