So Cam and NM weren’t better qb’s at Auburn than they were at their previous schools? If we are giving Riley credit then we have to give Gus credit too.
1. NM regressed significantly from 2013 to 2014. He ran the Read Option damn well and through intermitten passes to a lot of wide open people. I’m not saying he didn’t have some great throws like Uzomah over the shoulder vs MSU in 2013.
2. Malzahn has proven he can’t develop his own QBs out of high school. He’s had 10 years at Auburn and his only good years as OC or HC came from a transfer QB. Cam, Marshall, Stidham.
3. Lincoln Riley does have a much smaller sample size but ran the best offense in the country 3 years running. I’m taking him over Gus to develop a QB.

NM regressed significantly from 2013 to 2014
Also, one butt fumble from 9 wins, one choke job vs UGA from 10 wins, one FG Gus vs Bama from 11 wins, etc
NM didnt regress, we choked down the stretch as a team.

I understand people who don't like Gus. It's people who make up shite to support their argument that I don't understand.

IMO...Cam was a better QB after he left than before he got to Auburn. Nick was also a better QB. Sean White was a better QB. The problem might be more about having a poor eye for talent in HS than development. Stidham played similar to 2017 in 2018, but teams were able to exploit his weaknesses without KJ.

The problem is that the man has not recruited for his system. He is good at developing read option quarterbacks and helping with their reads and stuff but he doesn’t seem that great at developing pocket passers

I guess if you choose to have an opinion then that's ok, but the stats on Cam, Nick and Sean show he developed all 3 players as "passers" from when he first got them.

And ability to close on a capable recruit. It’s not like we weren’t after many of the top dual threat qbs that have producing.

i didn't say they didn't develop as passers, I said he was only good at developing dual threats. The respect they demanded as runners was an important part of their passing efficiency increases.

NM’s passing stats improved but he had much more of an impact in 2013.

Yea, but the stats tell the story...we were within 14 yards per game and .2 points per game from 2013 to 2014. The difference in our record was defense. Passing stats were significantly better in 2014.

We also had Tre Mason, Greg Robinson and a serious blocking FB in 2013. Plus the magic dust was there in 2013
