AUBURN, Alabama — The only fingers pointed in Auburn’s locker room were directed at themselves.

quote:

It would have been easy to point fingers at officials — right or wrong — after two pass interference penalties extended LSU’s final drive and then placed the visiting Tigers in field goal position for the game-winning kick in the 22-21 victory here Saturday inside Jordan-Hare Stadium.

quote:

You know, they called PI’s on them and PI’s on us too, but we just have to get off the field,” Auburn safety Jeremiah Dinson said. “We have to play better. They got calls, we got calls. We just have to play better.”

quote:

“It’s very frustrating, especially for a D-lineman,” Auburn defensive end Marlon Davidson said. “You go out there and rush the quarterback, keep rushing the quarterback, make plays and do this and do that, and then for something like that to change the whole drive with a first down, that hurts because then you put your defensive line in a bind. You get tired, you get overwhelmed. But then it just comes to a fighting game. Who wants it [more]? I guess they wanted it [more] than us.”

quote:

“The message (to the team) was that we didn’t make the plays to win the game and (LSU) did,” said Auburn coach Gus Malzahn, who moved to 0-2 against LSU coach Ed Oregon. “We have to be big boys and keep our chin up. We’ve got to put this setback, understand it, and move forward and put this behind us. That’s what quality teams do, and that’s what we are going to have to do.”

I would like, if only for once, a coach got in front of a mic and said that was the worst officiated game ever

I mean, does the SEC fine coaches for saying that like the NFL will?

Probably. I’d have enjoyed that, too.

I do t care if he states it publicly, I hope he sends some tape to the SEC offices. Refs made themselves a part of the game, which shouldn’t happen.

Dinson is a class act.

Well yeah Auburn didn’t play great, but that doesn’t negate the fact that the refs were shite. I don’t get why it’s so hard to put some of the blame there. It was definitely a huge factor in the loss. Why should a team HAVE to overcome bullshite officiating?

IMO, if that game is called evenly, Auburn wins. Sure we could’ve played better. That’s pretty clear, but that shite was criminal today. The crew should be suspended.

It is your own damn fault if you allow a game close enough for officials to be able to tip the balance of the game.

If we took care of business, LSU would never have been in position to set up that FG via PI calls

It wasn’t just then PI. The one hold on Kim was legit. The second one questionable (at the game). LSU could have been flagged for PI and holding. The second PI should not have been called. (LSU May still have won). 50 yards in penalties in the 4th quarter.

Still we should have won. But the game turned on the 70 yard TD. we also had numerous chances to win the game. We made too many mistakes with turnovers, bad snap on FG, not taking points early. Our Oline is a huge weakness.

Positive was red zone offense and defense.

Reading this coming from Marlon Davidson’s mouth makes me sad.

Sure sounds like Gus has this team well-prepared.

But don’t worry! We’re usually finally settled in and ready to go by Game 4! And that’s Gus’s SuperBowl against Arky this year!
