I was thinking the same. Cooper is really good, but I don’t even think he’s one and done type talent much less generational. LeBron is a generational talent

I think Cooper is at AU for 3 years. How fast he develops will tell the story of his AU career. And I think he's a fantastic high school player and deserving of his ranking but his physical tools, meaning speed, size, strength, will really hold him back early in his college career.

He's further along than Harper in all phases except jump shot. I'm not going to call him generational. That should be reserved for the truly elite of elite players but he is an instant impact player. He will make us a better team and be an upgrade over McCormick at pg.

How do you figure? You mean at the high school level? I don't remember anything about Jared in high school because he wasn't a high profile recruit. However Jared's overall athleticism appears much higher then Cooper's. I'm not saying it is but young Jared seemed much faster, quicker, with more hops then Cooper as a Senior in high school. Cooper is a better finisher at the rim coming out of high school and had Stretch and Okoro on his team until this year. Cooper will not be a finisher at the rim in the SEC his true freshman year. Doesn't have the hops or strength it requires. Like I said previously I'm not poo-pooing him just stating what I have seen in multiple videos and games he's played in. He gets a lot of credit for that 2018-19 season when Okoro was the player that was over looked if a top 40 player can be over looked.
For me next year just making the big dance will be an incredible coaching job by Bruce anything else is gravy. The year after that tho we should be a top 16 team and ready to challenge again for an SEC championship depending on anything attrition or injury especially if we close out with 2-3 players ranked in the top 150 in the nation.
If Bruce gets burned on Brown and Green like he did with Kessler and Boston I could see him taking a different approach and going after the high ranked guys but if he can get a commit from a 30-80 ranked player he will take them on the spot regardless if he thinks he has a "good shot" at a top 15 guy.

He was still a top 100 recruit. Out of high school it’s not really close between Cooper and Harper, like marshall said, jump shot is the only thing Harper had over Cooper out of high school and Sharife is still a decent shooter. In fact, if Sharife was a couple inches taller he probably is a one and done candidate.

To be fair, Harper had Collin Sexton in high school.
I think Cooper is definitely an instant impact guy who will be far better than what we had this year. I would go as far to say he’s probably the best passer in the class, he’s just definitely not some generational talent.

The scary thing about the one and done route as it gets you in a rut of having to sustain them or else you end up with massive rebuilds. I don’t think we are at that point even if we land a couple of those guys since everyone signed at this point is a 3-4 year player IMO.

Jared was built like a 13 year old boy when he arrived at Auburn. Cooper isn't where he will be a year from now but he's a lot more physically ready for SEC play than Jared was. What really sets him apart and what you'll notice when he gets to Auburn is his ability to break down his defender with either hand and his court vision. He is NBA level elite already with both those qualities. I don't know how far you go back but his game reminds me of a young Kenny Anderson. He just needs to get in a college weight room and develop a jump shot. He's a good shooter but he doesn't elevate or get it off as quickly as he'll need to at the next level. He's a gym rat though so I expect he'll get there sooner than later.

I agree with you on the sustaining and rebuilds but we are definitely going into rebuild mode next year. There is no one on campus from the 2017 class and we didn't sign anyone in the 2018 class. So we are essentially going to be true sophomores, redshirt Freshmen, and true freshmen for the entire team basically. An experienced point, grad transfer for this next season is almost a must unless Turbo finds a way to handle his business on the court. He had good handles and swag in high school and the AAU circuit. Not sure why he seemed so overwhelmed on the court this year. The problem with extremely young teams is they take off possessions and don't compete every play. If this years team with the same talent level with less heart and experience played the same schedule we probably finish about .500 in conference and 2-3 more losses in the out of conference.

I think you guys are selling Sharife a little short. When he gets to school and gets on a college weight program, you'll see a real spike in his athleticism. He's an ELITE ball handler, he has ELITE court vision and he's already a good shooter. Not to mention he can finish at the rim like Tony Parker & Kyrie Irving. He very well could be a 1 & Done based on potential.

Here in Augusta, we had heard about Jared. He won the Peach Jam MVP over tons of much higher profile guys.

I would be extremely surprised if he is not a one and done. Ive watched Sharife since he was in 8th grade. The kid is a fricking show stopper. Ive never seen handles like he has in HS. He was the star of the team last year with Okoro on it. He was the first ever Max Preps player of the year as a junior. The kid flat out balls on the court. If we can get another star to join him, next year will be extremely fun.

I’m hoping Sharife channels his inner Chris Paul and goes off.
