Great starting spot.. in order to have control over your own destiny of making the playoffs.

Game 1 is the season and will set the true expectations moving forward.

Win that first game and we'd have reasonable expectations to potentially run the table till Amen Corner, when our playoffs would realistically start.

Lose that first game, and we'd have reasonable expectations of not making the playoffs this season.

Would love to be just outside the top 10 but I agree, a good spot to start. Auburn has the opportunity if they choose to seize it this year. We’ll know quickly if we’re gonna be a contender or not.

Not to be a downer but I'm going to have to take this season a game at a time

It's such a beast of a schedule that I'm just hoping we don't frick up any winnable games and show and maintain an identity throughout the entire season.

If that happens we'll be a very good team and we'll get whatever we earn

I just hope AU can live up to expectations. We do better coming from out of nowhere.

not so sure that's true

we were a quarter away from making the playoffs last year after starting 1-1 and losing to a top 5 team

Let's be honest, it's not particularly reasonable to think we'll make the playoffs right now. We're #9, behind two SEC teams (playing both on the road) trying to get into a 4 game playoff. Chances of us making it aren't remote but they're not good. I don't see that as a negative take, it's just the reality for anyone who isn't Alabama or Clemson.

If we lose the first one, that slog gets even harder. So I agree it's not a season-killer, but something that is improbably now obviously becomes even less probable if we lose the opener.

regardless of where we're ranked, this season has always been about getting to amen corner undefeated (or with 1 loss to UW), and going 1-1 or 2-0. Do that, and we've got a shot.

indeed

And, I'm hopeful we're going to play some ball that is enjoyable to watch this season. I'm not saying we should have low expectations, but 2013 was so fun because we weren't worried about November in September. It's a tough ask to not look ahead too much when you're deemed a CFP-worthy team, but that's my goal

Yea, I get it.

It's easier to watch when you aren't worried about every result. A couple bad plays in a game could easily kick us out of the running, but that makes for some fun, albeit extremely anxious, watching. I can't wait

I just hope we have the focus on the process Gus built. I do think he has a process and I hate to use that term, but it really is powerful. Focus on doing the right things every time and the games will take care of themselves.

We have the athletes to beat UW if we execute. It's that simple.

Lots of new parts to the offense. None of them were set in the spring game. I would expect things to start slowly. Having Stidham, Ryan Davis , Cox and Slayton back helps but the rest are brand spanking new

I am hoping the defense can keep us in it long enough for the new guys to get the butterflies out and learn how to play offense

Yes, but last year, when we didn't have to play Miss State, Georgia and Alabama on the road.
