You said Tubs overachieved by winning 68% of his games.

Gus recruits a little better than Tubs and has pretty much the same win % yet he underachieves.

That makes no sense. Seems like based on your statements about Tubs, that Gus would be doing what's expected of him.

Also it took Tubs six years to ever win more than 9 games. Gus did it his first year. Tubs didn't win a championship until his sixth year (his one and only title) yet we're upset with Gus who's in his fifth year has already won one despite a juggernaut being on the other side of the state.

Using Tubs for your argument is completely idiotic.

Most people labeled me NegaLanier due to the fact I did not go Balls deep with Sean White as our QB. And if I am not mistaken, I was dead on with him. But some of you can not understand logic, you are either all in or all out.

Feel free to give an example of me posting in this category . And you were ranting for over a season about Gus not being able to have a truly successful offense with a true dual threat QB and a big RB (neither of which do we have right now). Your complaints went far beyond White.

Now don't get me wrong, there is a ton of idiocy being posted on this board, particularly by the alters/trolls as you have pointed out. But you trying to lump anyone critical of Gus in the same category is equally as dumb as those idiots ranting and raving.

If we had the Gus from 2009 and 2010 nobody would be complaining about Gus, but whatever happened to him in the offseason after 2014 messed him up good. It's nice to see more speed sweeps and things we haven't seen for a few seasons lately, but we still have a long way to go.

And it's not that people are trying to judge him for 2 games, but we need to be able to put out a decent offense against good defenses, or we have no hope long term with him. Gus isn't a top shelf recruiter, so if he's not bringing a good offense he's really bringing nothing to the table.

In 2015 and 2016 we played 11 teams with top 50 scoring defenses, we managed 13 touchdowns in those 11 games. That's a major problem, and unless we are actually able to score on teams with decent defenses this yer then nothing will have changed really.

So of course we are going to be looking closely at games such as Clemson, Bama, Georgia, and LSU to gauge how our offense is doing. We've been whipping up offensively on teams like MSU, Ole Miss, and Arky for most of Gus's tenure, that's nothing new.

Gus has recruited the 7th best recruiting class over a 5 year span, 2013-2017.

The team has finished ranked 2nd-2013, 22nd-2014, UR-2015, and 24th-2016.

Gus has under achieved or no?

Based on your earlier arguments, definitely not.

Based on this argument you're currently using, maybe a little.. I haven't seen the rankings that you're referring to but i know there's three teams on that list above us that we play every year. So since you're using recruiting rankings as the end all be all, they should beat us every year. 3 losses doesn't translate to being ranked in the top 10 which is what I'm assuming you're saying the expectation is

A lot of fair points in your post. But one thing that's becoming clear with Gus and his approach is the need for an elite QB. Not that there are a ton of programs that win consistently with average QB play, but it seems Gus isn't even capable of mediocre production without a star back there.

That suckage you reference over the last two seasons is a direct result of getting to the point, for even one snap, where JFIII was considered our best option at QB.

Lies. All teams in the top 10 rely on elite QB play. All teams in the NFL rely on elite QB play.

I just don't want to be murdered by the angry mob of Gus Malzahn apologists. It's a nowhere road with you guys. We beat a couple of bad SEC teams and Gus is the man again. We already saw this movie... We will find out what he is made of in November. Hopefully, he figures it out.

Look, I am no Gus apologist. I have been as frustrated with him as anyone and even more at times. I still question his ability to run the style of offense we are running well. I maintain that his wheelhouse is having a strict running game with a elite rushing QB. And I dont believe he should have ever changed from that

But to continue to shite on this team that is improving and has pieces that help it succeed at every waning moment is just asinine. This team can be a good team. Cant they beat Alabama? Doubt it. Can they beat LSU and UGA. Very possible.

We could also lose to Arkansas and it could all fall apart. But at this point, people have to like the progress on both sides of the ball.

You've been unable to argue anything I've said. We're evaluating past results. Those two games barely even have an effect on the things we've talked about. So you're just making shite up again.

Weagle25-

Give up on the troll. There is no way that Danger54 really believes what he is saying.

He is trolling.

I have not seen anything of this sort. People are just saying that he is not doing a bad job right now and seems to be getting the team to play. Firing him everytime he runs a wildcat or a run up the middle seems senseless.

Auburn is in the top 15 right now with a very strong chance to climb higher. We have plenty of depth and other than losing Stidham, we are not relying on any one player.
We are in a good position. I know a lot of people are comparing this year to last year and I understand the comparison. But from where I sit, this team looks more prepared and better equipped to make a run than last year.

None of us are asking for a raise for Gus, just a little patience to do his job. I think a lot of the people who are going off the deep end are people from the state of Alabama who are grasping at the idea we will hire someone who will be able to take Saban down. I would not get your hopes up. There are 128 more programs out there trying to do the same thing.

"A Miss(y) State win and Gus saves face?

NIMHO...he still can't spot the talent at hand from the hoped for hype, which is why he still doesn't have his team ready to play until several games in. And he's making a (near criminal) career of running one star running back at a time into the ground by mid-season. He's also all but forgotten what got him the job in the first place (the HUNH fast - and the bases for his best seller). And he's just as likely as not, to reverting back to running on every 1st down as ever, followed by the ever popular signature-whirly-bird, and never moving the ball in the air inside the 20. Perhaps it would have been simpler to say, 'revert to predictably', but are we sure he's stopped? And I've not forgotten how he's quite-frankly-failed every HS QB he's tried to develop while at AU. Nor have I forgotten how he wouldn't allow QB's to use an off-season guru position coach, which is simply forever lost (allowable) practice time, and something they all could have obviously benefited from.

Nor do I call the 'Miracle in Jordan Hare' a brilliant call, instead of it being Nick Marshall saying, ' F__'it I know better than you'. Nor in the same stretch do I consider the Kick-Six anyway attributable to his acumen as a coach; and however spectacular these are, they're the two reasons for ultimately making it into the playoffs and 2013 NC game. Because honestly without these two non-Malzahn events it's a 5-3 SEC season, to go along with the 4-4, 2-6, and 5-3 he's tallied since becoming HC at Auburn, and hardly worth the millions (to go along with those 3 bowl losses out of 4).

So now suddenly in game four he's become a good coach? It's just as likely by game four he's finally willing to listen to other people around him, as he is to those voices in his head. Do you guys honestly believe a 3-2 Miss State is a power house quality win? It'll be real interesting to see how Gus performs the next four games (O'Ms, LSU, ARK, and TAMU) against very average SEC coaching (and the red-meat of the season). . . Melt over and out."

Bingo Awestruck.. You are certainly not your name when it comes to Gus. And you hit my sentiment on the head. Would the suddenly new Gus supports still be in line if we lose to UGA and Bama. One of the hallmarks of Gus' coaching is not knowing what we have when we come out of the gate. That just not good coaching.

No one is saying he is the man. Some though are at least pointing out the absurdity of some you guys that thought the season was over after week 3. Gus still has plenty to prove and more important games on the schedule but everything is still on the table to play for and it's funny how so many melters (this one isn't directed at you) have gone in hiding now after AU beat the shite out of their first 2 SEC opponents.

Also if you quit saying dumb shite like "Carlton Davis is going to get benched vs Mizzou" and "Scot Loeffler could have coached our offense to a championship in 2010" then people will stop jumping all over you. Pretty simple. When you say stupid shite, people are gonna call you stupid

FWIW I don't think you are an alter as others have accused. Just someone that is understandably fed up with Malzahn. That's fine. There are very valid arguments against Malzahn but you aren't making many of em in this thread...
