Brian Perroni, a 247 A&M guy, says Texas was able to pickup his commitment by convincing Princely that they’re planning to use more 4 man fronts. Apparently that hasn’t happened.

He’s interested in programs that use big ends on a 4 man front. Perroni seems to think that A&M is looking elsewhere because of limited spots at this stage of the cycle

I wonder who the staff likes better as a strongside end between him & Jay Hardy?

Article from Rivals on Princely

quote:

IN HIS OWN WORDS

On Texas: "I still have a great relationship with Coach (Oscar) Giles and Coach (Tom) Herman. They make sure to text me ... I probably haven't gone two days without one of them texting me. It's a great coach-player relationship. They don't try to be my friends or stuff. They're letting me know they've got a lot of defensive linemen leaving and things like that, so I can get there and play. The visits have been fun. It's more interactions with players and the players make me feel like I'm part of the team already."

On LSU: "I text Coach DJ (Dennis Johnson). I told him I didn't like how their defensive line just clashes the whole game, so we've been talking about going down there and playing some stand-up outside linebacker."

On Auburn: "They were a bit late (to offer), so I need to visit down there and see what it's like. I've been watching No. 3 (Marlon Davidson) and Derrick Brown, the defensive tackle. I've noticed how dominant they are on the defensive front. The head coach, Gus Malzahn, gives me a lot of calls and so does the recruiting coordinator (Marcus Woodson). I've been texting with the defensive line coach (Rodney Garner) here and there, too."

On Texas A&M: "They keep asking me to visit. It's the same for LSU and Auburn."

quote:

Rivals Reaction
At the moment, Umanmielen was open that Auburn was pushing the hardest for his commitment, which dates back to even before he backed off his commitment to Texas.

Texas A&M and LSU have both been major players in the four-star's recruitment dating back to the spring. He's made a ton of visits to College Station and has a fantastic relationship with defensive line coach Terry Price, but Umanmielen didn't have much to say about the Aggies in this particular interview. LSU is now after Umanmielen as an outside linebacker, which is certainly interesting because he is very much intrigued by that possibility.

However, the spotlight will be on Umanmielen and not if, but when he makes his first trip out to The Plains. I am wrestling with placing a FutureCast pick in for Auburn, but it's still too early, but a visit to campus will certainly be one to watch.

It's also worth noting that Texas had his commitment and he is still on high on his relationship with the coaches and current players such as Joseph Assai, DeGabriel Floyd and Byron Vaughns. Don't discount the Longhorns' chances of eventually landing the local product when he makes his next decision, which should come close to the Early Signing Period in December.

You won't see one unless Joey transfers. As said before the staff is monitoring it.

High likelihood Gatewood transfers. I suppose if Bo doesn’t make much improvement there’s a small chance he stays the spring to see what happens with that.

But if we work on the likelihood of JG leaving then next season we’ll have Bo, Chayill, and Sandberg.

That’s less than ideal. We’d need a grad transfer at that point for depth and I don’t think our options will be lengthy with zero chance at starting

Not sure if wasting a scholarship on a 3rd or 4th string QB is worth it. It would need to be like a FCS guy wanting to spend a year in FBS.

I think it’s highly probable that JG transfers as well.

Maybe we should just go ahead and accept Jacolby’s commitment.

GG Robinson, the Auburn legacy, was evidence that recruits can only be slow played for so long.

One kid that is turning some heads in Bham in Vestavia's Sawyer. Not sure if Gus would look at a lower rated guy like him.
