Mark-Antony Richards reminds Gus of Kerryon
quote:
When Mark-Antony Richards left his official visit to Auburn back in early December, one thing that truly stuck out to the four-star athlete was what the Tigers’ coaches sold him on philosophically.
quote:
“Mark-Antony, I really believe, was the most versatile running back in the country,” Malzahn said. “He can do a lot of different things. He’s a great running back, but he can catch the ball out of the backfield. I know a lot of people were recruiting him to be defensive back and all that. Really reminds me of Kerryon Johnson.”
quote:
Of course, the comparisons to Johnson — the 2017 SEC Offensive Player of the Year and second-round NFL Draft pick by the Detroit Lions a year ago — are natural.
Like Richards, Johnson was recruited by many programs as a defensive back as well. Both were dangerous all-purpose weapons for their respective high school teams. Richards amassed more than 3,000 all-purpose yards, including more than 1,300 rushing yards as a senior at Wellington, while Johnson was a two-way star at Madison Academy, winning Alabama’s Mr. Football award in 2015 before enrolling at Auburn. Both also have similar builds.
quote:
Richards is also the first top-100 recruit Auburn has signed at running back since Johnson in 2015. Richards is the nation’s No. 90 overall player in the 2019 class, while Johnson was 43rd in his class

quote:You would think so but even with UGA's beastly line we actually had a better RB class than them in 2019. I'll take MAR & DJ 7 days a week & twice on Sunday over Kenny Mc & I bet the UGA staff would too.
Man UGA gonna kill us in RB recruiting because of the difference in OL recruiting.

MAR picks Auburn
"I was just thinking about Auburn"
I think MAR is the best back we've signed since KJ and I expect him to be very, very good. He doesn't seem to be injury prone like KJ though..

Marcello posted "Rock On" which is typically what KN posts when AU gets a commit that hasn't announced yet...

Gus is like me in college. Zero studying until night before the exam. Then stay up all night cramming.

This is a solid pick up. He still has 2 years of eligibility left and he said he's not planning on on considering other schools. Let us get a couple of guys locked down and then go after some big targets.

I’m not right about enough to miss out on my credit
Still think this is the last year of Grimes. He’ll see this OL off and retire

Auburn picks up left tackle commitment for 2020 (247)
quote:
Auburn is not messing around with its offensive line recruiting for 2020.
Less than one week following National Signing Day, Auburn offered and picked up a commitment from its second offensive lineman. Jonathan Buskey, an offensive tackle out of Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, was offered a scholarship and committed to the Tigers on Tuesday.
The 3-star prospect plays left and right tackle for Coffeyville, but was recruited as a left tackle by Auburn. Auburn visited him during the 2018 season, but things became serious in a hurry Tuesday.
"I'm very excited about Auburn," Buskey said. "I haven't really talked to any coaches. I've been really loving Auburn since high school. Two years later I get to be part of them. I feel very confident to go all in this far ahead of time."
Buskey will have two years to play two seasons at Auburn. He will be a redshirt sophomore this upcoming season at Coffeyville.
Buskey is originally from LeFlore High in Mobile, Alabama. One of his cousins attends Auburn University. He has visited the campus as a fan in the past.
Buskey stands at 6-foot-7 and is 320 pounds. He played basketball in high school at LeFlore. He said he recently ran the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds.
Auburn coaches fell in love with his footwork in junior college, Buskey said.
"There are a lot of great tackles out there but I feel like I can be one of the top ones," he said. "I play every down and keep on working every down."
Buskey could come to Auburn and immediately replace Prince Tega Wanogho Jr., who opted to return to Auburn for his senior season in 2019 after weighing whether to jump to the NFL, as a starter in 2020. Buskey may rise in the 247Sports rankings as he is re-evaluated through his sophomore season in 2019.
Texas showed interest in Buskey but has not been offered a scholarship. He doesn't plan to consider other schools, he said.
