He came in smaller than expected though. He needs to gain somewhere around 30 lbs.. Not impossible, but not easy either. Newkirk
Barring a strange illness, given he has already been at 270 while in high school it shouldn't a problem getting where we need him to with a year in the S&C program.

Newkirk is a big question mark too after his injuries.
No doubt but if he can just get & stay healthy then I won't be worried. By most accounts he's a hoss when healthy.

The roster has him listed at 255 right now.

I agree. I put him in a similar category as Troxell. They have injury issues, but if they can get healthy they will contribute a lot.

I know. What I'm saying is he was measured at 270 in camps in high school. Being able to get there before means getting up to 290 or 300 shouldn't be hard with a year of good S&C program.

How did I miss that we have a 255 pound DT on the roster?

Edit: nvmd I see we haven’t moved him yet.

I thought you we're saying he was still 270. Did anything ever come out as to why he and Handy showed up smaller than they we're in HS?

Don't think I've seen any fans ask AU reporters.

While thats true.. its been months since Robinson chose Bama. We should have been able to beat Tenn with that amount of time imo. They are, at best, like the 8th best team in the SEC. Missing a guy to LSU I can understand.. but Tenn?

And where are WE in the SEC for crying out loud at this moment? Maybe 6th? You put too much heart into your logic. Tenn is building and we are trying to rebuild. Not much difference.

Makes sense why we lost to Tenn if they started strong w/ him first. That works most of the time....

I said we are 3rd right now imo, but LSU could be ahead of us. If you want to reach you could say A&M. Tenn was 5-7 last year and finished last in the east. If you don't think we should beat them out 9 times out of 10 I don't know what to say.. just agree to disagree I guess. I don't want to keep going on about it though.. this is the recruiting thread and I don't want to be the cause of it getting off track.

I now question the roster... Woodson put up a picture with Handy, Hall, and Moore and Moore is definitely bigger than 255. I wouldn't be surprised if he's around 270 right now.

KN posted today that its a long shot for us to get Dallas Walker. Just figured I would update since his name was mentioned yesterday.

We are not rebuilding, recruiting talent we are top 3 or 4. It’s not a talent problem, except maybe qb, it’s a coaching problem.. tenn would trade rosters with us in a New York minute

JT, do you really use simple logic like, the #1 team gets the #1 player, the #2 gets the second, etc? If you are that simply minded, recruiting is not for you man.

Stop trying to line up players with teams based how "who is the best'. Honestly, that is silly. Players pick teams for many many reasons. Tenn right now has no DE's recruited. That more than likely means immediate playing time and less competition on a SEC Blueblood program. I dont care how shitty they have been lately.

No. Its far from being that simple, but better school, better staff, and position of need (we only have 1 DE and no bucks committed, unless you think Riley plays buck) and I think we should win that battle far more often than not. Thats twice in 2 years they have beat us out for a big recruit. Its not the end of the world or anything, but with the way our staff recruits I'm used to winning those battles and really only missing guys to Clemson and a couple other schools.

For someone who doesn't follow recruiting as much as many on the board you sure do get the concepts well.

New Lanier is "Old" Lanier unfortunately.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.

I didn't say you didn't. All I said was you don't follow it hard core like many on the board. That opinion stems from things like you asking where Tank is leaning when there was an announcement coming & it have been talked about in the thread a good bit before your post. There is no negative connotation in my OP. It was meant to be seen as a compliment actually.
