There’s rumor on 247 that Tank will be the top RB on rivals. Not sure how true that will end up being

This rumor is false. However, Trenton Simpson moves up 42 spots to #34 which may be the juice he needed to get his 5th star on the composite

Tank dropped a spot to #30

Names to watch as Rivals continues throughout the week will be Steiner and Jeremiah Wright. Wright is currently unranked and will be ranked by the end of the week. Steiner had one of the best camp performances all summer and may be in position to move up a bit on Rivals’ LB board

Simpson and Bigsby are #34 and #35 in the composite now. Just a hair shy of the 5*

No unfortunately. ESPN having him at 105 is weighing his ranking down too much. He needs to get in the top 80 on ESPN to be a composite 5*.

Confused as to why they still factor in ESPN's shite ratings into the formula. Nobody goes to ESPN for recruiting.

It would be weird to have a composite ranking & not include such a visible outlet.

Like it or not, ESPN’s rankings are heavily referenced throughout the season across their platforms and especially during their NSD coverage.

Eric Shaw is committing Thursday. Some thoughts that we may take him as a WR/TE and only take 4 DBs this year. If we do that its first come first serve between Kendall Dennis and Brian George.

KN also said that even though Pegues said he wanted to take all 5 official visits his source said that's unlikely. The same source said he doesn't think Pegues will wait mid-fall to announce. Also he apparently had a good talk with Gustav and other staff on the phone last night.

How does that explain Pouncey? He just chose Texas over us.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. It seems more and more to me he was the odd man out.

I could be wrong. Doesn’t effect me either way - and I thought he’d be part of the class. Just putting different notes together from the recruiting guys and connecting dots.

No clue how I missed that lol.

If Gatewood doesn't get the job and transfers out do you think we take a 2nd QB this year or take 2 next year?

Next class. Either via transfer market or high school. You want those guys identified and on board early. If you look at the 2021 QB board, a lot of those guys are already committed too.

Something to watch is if one of those guys leaves the team early. There would be time to work on a guy like Haynes King who probably was not a fan of the depth chart.

Auburn has been on ALOT of 2021 QBs. They’re in good shape to take another guy there but I’m not sure there’s ever been this many top guys committed this early at QB

Quick Ojulari tidbit. KN Hs been leaning LSU (and still is) but sounds like he’s hedging his bet some. Says this one is interesting and questions if this recruitment is like Chris Thompson Jr.’s

We’ll see

Wonder if that was a discussion about Pegues playing DT?

Still dont think we need a TE this cycle, have sufficient hb/te. Spencer Nigh, Jay Jay Wilson, John Schenker, Joiner, and the two redshirt freshmen tight ends. Then again the Jay Jay Wilson pick up confused me.

As of this morning, KN is leaning against Auburn getting Shaw.

Not sure about that. I know a HS coach in Texas with Texas ties that said they "pounced" on Pouncey quickly in part to get us back for stealing Chris Thompson from them.

A couple things from autigers07 who has the strongest recruiting track record on info from any AU reporter or insider. Shaw is not a take for AU, nor UT for that matter. Both staffs want to see how he recovers this season from an injury he had. SC is ready to take him now. Also as of today Ojulari is not picking AU.

He didn't address on us potentially only taking 4 DBs but my guess is if that happens it will be for another DL down the line.

Staff was already planning to do this per info from Keith a month or 2 back.

Maybe internally but likely not to him. As Jonesy has posted before we are solely recruiting him as a TE & that's where he wants to play.

Joiner is strictly playing RB now. Wilson & Nigh are SRs. We'll essentially have 3 players for sometimes 2 different positions after this season. Seems likely we take a HB/TE in the class.
