Funny thing is Gus said he signed a small class since 2020 was loaded and we were in good shape. LMFAO. We are getting skull fricked. Gus is gonna end on a miserable note if he doesn't pick up recruiting.

Naw. We will sign 7 slot recievers that are 4* and be happy with a 9ish ranked class. Convert a few of them to DL.

Auburn lands Grad Transfer WR Zach Farrar. Eligible Immediately

quote:

A wide receiver originally from Texas that has been at Oklahoma, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Youngstown State all in the last three years, Zach Farrar was on the Auburn campus this weekend for an official visit to check out the Tigers and it didn’t take him long to realize his future was on the Plains.

“It was amazing,” Farrar said of Auburn. “It’s SEC football and you can’t get any better than that.

I really like how the coaches drew everything up. They showed me where I would fit in and how they have an immediate need at that position. It was good.”

With Coach Gus Malzahn looking for a veteran receiver to join the ranks for the 2019 season, Farrar is a player that is heading into his fourth season out of high school and could bring that mature approach to Coach Kodi Burns’ room.

Losing Ryan Davis from last year’s team as well as Darius Slayton, who declared for the NFL following his junior season, Auburn’s wide receiver group is lacking in veterans with the exception of Eli Stove, Will Hastings and Sal Cannella.

He said the need for someone to step up in Slayton’s role (X position) is a big deal for him and he’s excited about the opportunity at Auburn.

quote:

Last season Farrar played in six games at Youngstown State and caught 20 passes for 303 yards and one touchdown. In 2017 he played at MGCCC and caught 11 passes for 266 yards and four touchdowns.

His best game came in the biggest game for the Penguins a year ago. Facing West Virginia in Morgantown he caught six passes for 135 yards against the Mountaineers.

Originally committing to Mississippi State out of high school before starting his career at Oklahoma, Farrar said he’s happy to have the chance to play in the Southeastern Conference.

“I had in my mind that I was going to play in the SEC,” Farrar said. “I have the mindset of a player in the SEC. I want the ball. Obviously I want to help the team get better, but I want the ball and the SEC is where I want to be.”

quote:

A talented athlete, Farrar was drafted in the 26th round out of high school after earning honorable mention All-American honors as an outfielder. He played at both Oklahoma and Youngstown State and he said it’s something he would like to do at Auburn as well.

“I’m not done with baseball,” Farrar said. “Coach said I would get the opportunity (to play baseball here). My main goal, though, is to make it to the (NFL) in one year. I have two years of eligibility left, but I’m trying to get in, help the team as much as possible and get to the (NFL).”

Graduating from Youngstown State this summer, Farrar will have two years left to play two when he gets to Auburn in July. He also considered taking visits to Arizona State, Baylor and Illinois before choosing the Tigers.

that means Clemson got the four top ranked DTs in this class

I've said it before, but I'm curious to how the transfer portal will affect things. Guys are less likely to sit and wait for their turn to play.. If one or two of those guys don't see the field freshman/soph year I wonder if they stick it out? I doubt we are finished trying to recruit Murphy too so maybe Garner can get in his ear.

Someone already posted about the grad transfer from Youngstown committing. Farrar seems to be a decent athlete if he played 2 sports, but I don't see him as anything more than a depth signing. I just read the article posted and he's talking about going to the NFL after a year... I wish him luck, but its going to be hard to beat out any of the 5 or 6 guys ahead of him.

This guy sounds like a cancer if he doesn’t touch the ball.

On two teams.

I'm not a fan of this move.

Yeah. For some reason, one of the other 75 WR we have won't work out.

He has the frame to take on the run blocking roles that Nate Craig had.

I don't understand what we’re doing here but I don’t expect much this year. We will lose against the major SEC competition because they have had better recruiting and have better coaching. I don’t see Gus lasting another yr and recruiting continues to suffer because of him. BOT knew what was going to happen. We all knew.

Why block on the OL when you can make your best receivers block?

You mean the realists that have been telling you that the program will suffer more and more the longer Malzahn stays?

Gonna return with updates once the drama queens leave. It’s useless enough to update the thread this time of year. Certainly not going to load their douche guns for them
