Auburn sweeps a team favored to win their conference. We should have in part because they haven't really had a chance to see live pitching this year.

Was encouraged seeing our pitching get stronger the longer the weekend got.

Hopefully Howells hamstring issue is minor.

We play Oakland on Tuesday.

FWIW someone posted on another board softball has the #1 recruiting class for 2021. These ladies will sign in November. We are likely to struggle this season but looks like Dean plans to upgrade the talent with back to back top 5 classes that will be here the next 2 seasons.

The flush and replenish from the Myers era is taking it's time.

As it was going to. Until a year or 2 ago softball coaches could visit, recruit, & accept a commitment as early as they wanted. Many teams had girls all the way down to 7th & 8th grades committed to them. This includes AU with Myers. When he left a good number of our highest rated recruits decommitted over the course of a few classes. The rules are better now in that schools can't see any recruits til their Jr season & I think that includes taking a commitment til then as well. But it still created a vacuum in the transition of his 1st few years because softball is not like football recruiting for the most part in that when a recruit commits they shut down their recruitment & other teams don't press for them barring head coaching changes like we had. For the 1st 2 or 3 years Dean didn't have the full pool of talent to choose from. The 2020 class he just signed are basically from his 1st full pool & is ranked 4th in the nation. They will not be here as freshmen til next season. I could be wrong but I don't think this current team is very talented & will get a big talent upgrade next season. As long as the effort is there I can see Dean getting a mulligan this season if it goes bad because of the talent he has coming in.

Good analysis.

And I looked back at his first roster in 2018 and there are 8 players from that roster who would still have been on THIS team that have left on their own accord or for other reasons.

So, Dean had to scrounge the last 2 years to try to bring players in that could compete.

Looking forward to seeing how these 2 high ranked classes turn out...

He was only a sophomore last year. Had to come back.

We will lose our entire rotation and outfield this year though.
