Also FSU fans are melting pretty hard in the Putnam thread as they thought he was going to commit soon to them

There just isn't anything that really excites me about Derrian Brown. He's not a big back, he's not fast enough to justify his size. He has skills, but just isn't very exciting.

McIntosh has good size, but that's about it. He is very slow.

I got mixed feelings on Brown. He has an elite OL (four of them are committed to P5 schools) so he gets the benefit of great blocking. I do like his balance & fact he gets upfield as quickly as possible. Not sure he has elite speed though & ya isn't necessarily powerful either. He would be a solid pickup but there are others I like more

McIntosh is the type of back some on here have been clamoring. Bigger, more powerful kid but still a good athlete. Seems a bit slow but like his quick feet. Would do fine in our offense though

Personally my RB wishlist rankings are...

Emery --> best back in the class
Cain --> built for our offense
Richards --> seems like the type of back Lindsey prefers
Edwards --> bruiser with enough burst to be dangerous
Brown --> reminds me of a less fast Kam Martin
McIntosh --> strong kid but not very fast
Woods --> a solid backup option

Interesting note from 247 MSST homer reporter. Says Tennessee might be biggest threat for Charles Moore. Apparently he has a cousin up there & is considering transferring there for senior year

I still think we are the biggest threat but thought was interesting

Also OM appears to be trying to make a push for LeDarrius Cox. My understanding though is if AU wants to flip him from Tennessee they will

Hey Paw. Did you ever see my post asking you to look at Tahj Gary highlights? He was a guy Keith mentioned last week as one to watch. I like him a good bit.

FWIW Brown has the frame to carry more weight than Martin. Should be fine around 210 or so as he fills out.

Intriguing prospect. Powerful kid & looks like has decent speed though his competition level doesn't look great. Like Woods, I think he's a solid backup option but would prefer some of the other guys obviously

Good point. Would probably need a year in weight room but could fill out his frame some & be a more powerful back. I wouldn't be upset if he ends up the guy just REALLY hoping we can get one of Emery, Cain, Richards

Jackson athlete Nehemiah Pritchett likes Auburn 'a lot,' plans to make choice soon (AL.com)
quote:

First-year Jackson defensive coordinator Ryan Little has high praise for rising senior Nehemiah Pritchett.

"I think he's got more potential then any corner I've ever coached," Little said.

Colleges are starting to see that as well. The 6-foot, 170-pound Pritchett has received recent SEC offers from both Auburn and Ole Miss. He attended camp at Ole Miss and plans to return to Auburn for a cookout on July 28.

"I think Auburn is probably his lean at the moment, but he hasn't committed to anyone," veteran Jackson head coach Danny Powell said. "He has been talking to coach (Greg) Brown and coach (Kevin) Steele a lot."

Pritchett, currently a three-star athlete, has said he plans to make a decision before Jackson opens its season Aug. 30 against Clarke County. In addition to Auburn and Ole Miss, his offers include Memphis, Troy, UAB, Appalachian State, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Lafayette and South Alabama.

"Right now, I like Auburn a lot, but Ole Miss is there, too," he said. "They are definitely in the mix."

Pritchett likely projects as a corner in college, but he has played on both sides of the ball for the Aggies. A year ago, he caught 31 passes for 458 yards and seven TDs, ran for a pair of touchdowns and returned 13 punts for 279 yards and a score.

"He's a really good player, a quick-twitch guy," Powell said. "He's got good reaction. He has really good ball skills and leaping ability. Nehemiah really plays the ball in the air well. He'll play some offense for us again this year."

Little said he and Saraland coach Jeff Kelly, who proceeded Powell at Jackson, debated after a spring game against each other what position Pritchett would fit best into at college.

"Jeff said he thinks he can play on offense," Little said. "In my opinion, I think he's a corner. He has great transition speed. He can backpedal and transfer forward in a hurry. He has great feet. On offense, he can explode out of cuts as well as anyone I've seen."

Powell said Auburn coaches have told him they are recruiting three cornerback targets, including Pritchett, with the projection that one could move to the star position.

If Pritchett chooses Auburn, he could join former Jackson teammate Kendarian Handy-Holly in the secondary. Handy-Holly signed with Minnesota out of high school but was granted his release this spring and is expected to join the Tigers as a walk-on. He would have to sit out 2018 as a transfer.

"I would love that," Pritchett said. "I played with him when I was a sophomore, but I haven't talked to him about Auburn."

Looking through Auburn's media guide for the first time, the players set to arrive later this summer are on the roster.

WR Anthony Schwartz is wearing No. 6.
DT Coynis Miller is wearing No. 8.
P Arryn Siposs is wearing No. 90.

More from that article on Putnam. Told Steve Wiltfong that he had planned on committing before the season but doesn't look likely now. Says AU & FSU will definitely get OVs. Also is looking at CLEM, UF & UGA. In the comments Wiltfong said the CB might be all FSU but says this race is pretty even & that AU is WAY more in this race than previously thought Honestly I had written Putnam off but sounds like that's premature. My guess is we keep Kamaar Bell warm until Putnam makes a decision. Jones/Putnam would be a hell of a guard pair to pull this cycle

I know he's a longshot still, but has there been any news on Clay Webb? I tried to look, but didn't see anything new in the 30 seconds I spent on it.

Nope. Still going to Bama per AU sources.
