We beat the pac champions last year but lose to Oregon this year? I don’t see it, we’ll be small favorites in that game

I was on the fence with the Oregon game. I worry about the inexperience at QB. It was different last year, Stidham had a year under his belt running the offense

I worry about that stage being too big for a freshman QB.

That's definitely part of my concerns and it's not to crank up the IH8GM train.

But you never know with a GM season opener, the best team doesn't always win, and other times a Jeremy Johnson can look like a Heisman hopeful. In 2018 I'd thought we'd curb stomp Dabo and ended up giving up something like eleven (11-!!!) sacks.

We all know the play book will be bare no matter the QB and like you said brand squeaky new. There's usually all manner of bit's and pieces of OL on display. And depending on his comfort factor some key players (and standouts) for the season won't even be allowed on the field because they haven't mastered 100% of his five plays. Will we run on one? Will we spread the ball around? Toss it enough to keep them honest?

I was going with Mario Cristobal knowing more these answers than the other way around. What's he going to do?

The only reason I picked us over Oregon is becaise our D should be better. We were middle of the road last year. The O got a ton of criticism, but our D was just as bad.

I need to make this season more enjoyable. Perhaps, create a drinking game. On Saturday mornings, I will watch Gus’ presser, and take a shot every time he says “good week of practice” or some of his other common sayings that annoys the shite out of us.

I start every year with giddy optimism and then look at the schedule.....crazy. How many teams could run that gauntlet and still be ranked high enough to qualify for the playoffs or even a decent bowl?

Until the SEC equalizes the schedule, we shouldn't play a hard OCC schedule. We don't gain anything.

personally, I think that was more of a Chizik statement. But whatever.

We are going to need more than a good week of practice. We are going to need some experience at QB and a more talented running back if we want to navigate that schedule every year and have a change at the play offs.. Those two positions are critical and we are lacking in both at this time...

Everyone in the West?

I fell like State fans that I made fun of for so many years....preseason champs.

It's a no sum game, either Gus wins big, or we have another head man. No in-between.
