Dude Gouraige is from Florida, the snow is already gone here in Atlanta. The weather is supposed to be awesome this weekend, like the best you could every possibly hope for in January, and we have a big home basketball game against UGA. Big frick up if we cancelled his visit.

The concern is around getting into Auburn not out of Florida. Foucha on Twitter already announced he's going to Arkansas instead of AU this weekend & cited bad weather being the reason. I doubt the staff WANTS to cancel these visits so if they have to then I am guessing there is either concerns about being able to fly into Atlanta or making the drive to Auburn. It's my understanding that AU school system is closed today. Someone that actually lives in AU might be able to give better insight. I don't know, just relaying what has been reported & speculating

Will be interesting to see what comes out this morning from KN & Wolk

I'm not saying you are wrong in what's being reported I'm saying the concerns are bs. There will be zero issues travelling on any semi big roadway.

Will be interesting to see if they change their minds & end up bringing Gouraige in this week. Not much has come out since KN first relayed Caldwell's report about no OVs. Would suck to have a weekend with no visitors at all

Just to go somewhat OT for a sec.....

To me, this class can be summarized as a great, great depth building class. I don't think you'll see just a boatload of all SEC or All American players stem out of it (hence the lack of top 100 commits), but when you sign a class that consists of about 80% at 4* or better, that is a really, really good thing.

I do think that in 2019 we will have a bit better of a chance at signing some top 100 kids now that Gus doesn't have the hotseat hanging over his head and we have some continuity in the coordinator positions and a good bit of the staff.

Quay Walker now back to visiting Bama this weekend. Originally was UGA, then Bama convinced him to come, then Smart got him to switch his plans back and now finally he's decided he's going to Tuscaloosa, for now at least

This is fun watching Kirby and Saban battle it out. I pretty much have no confidence in us getting QW. What I really want to hear is what is Kirby saying about Nick on the recruiting trail and vice versa.

I'm very high on this class. Will feel really good about it if we can reel in a decent OT prospect but overall does a very good job of meeting needs but also getting pieces in place for future. It lacks that clear top guy but has a lot more prospects that I feel will have an impact than past classes. Only 2 guys I am not sure about right now are Fuqua & Marsh. I actually think Stutts will develop into a solid OG for us down the road. If we somehow pull Gouriage & Walker then it has a chance to be one of Gus's best. We will see how we close

Ya Bo Nix has already said that Gus's contract made a difference. AU fought a shite ton of negative recruiting this cycle (we brought it on ourselves honestly) & it hurt us with some of these top rated guys. After this past season & Gus having job security I expect AU to land a few more top rated guys. What I am interested in seeing is if AU expands their footprint a bit. No denying it's hard to get kids out of GA right now with Smart (Bama, OHST, CLEM are all losing battles too) so might need to up our efforts in Mississippi, Tennessee & Louisiana. Hoping to see some big names on junior day visitor list in a few weeks

Agreed. Smart has been negative recruiting the shite out of Saban since he left. Rumored to have shown prospects pictures of Bama's recruiting board to show some guys were lower on it & sell them on being higher. Also playing the age game some too. 2019 is gonna be very interesting across the board with Pruitt joining the things & Mullen now at a big school. You still got Orgeron down at LSU who kids love when they meet. Then of course Jimbo at A&M now. Gonna get messy out there

Yeah it already seems like we're gonna try to get into Mississippi a bit more this cycle, with the Woodson hire. He has done well there and has a lot of relationships to utilize....AND that state is ridiculously loaded for '19.

Ideally, we end up hiring Dell McGee and Shelton Felton after NSD (there could be staff changes after NSD) to help out with the state of GA overall and then south GA w/ Felton.

Assuming this plays out (I don't expect it to), who would they replace? I see Gus too loyal and set in his ways to make this happen.

Sounds like there are still road condition concerns in AU
quote:

UPDATED 9:15 A.M. FRIDAY

The temperature at the Auburn University Regional Airport has reached 34 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Temps will continue to rise, as the projected high for Lee County today is 51 degrees.

UPDATED 7:20 A.M. FRIDAY

The travel advisory is still in effect this morning, so if motorists venture out onto the roads, they should use extreme caution.

"What we're seeing right now are patches of ice," Lee County EMA Director Kathy Carson said. "The East-West roads that are not in the sun have a lot of ice. If people get out, they need to use extra caution."

Temperatures are expected to be high enough this afternoon that much of the remaining ice will melt, she added. But anyone driving this morning should slow down and use extra caution.

"We did have a warm-up yesterday, and a lot of snow melted that was on the side of the roads," Carson said. "It has now frozen because temperatures were below freezing last night. So just because you didn't hit any icy spots on a road yesterday afternoon, doesn't mean there's not ice there this morning."

County engineer Justin Hardee will drive around the county and evaluate the condition of the roads, then report his findings to the EMA again today.

Sounds like Kelvin Joseph no longer plans on visiting AU in February. Always was a longshot especially after he decided to not wait & take his visits before committing a 2nd time

But but Gus is using it as an excuse to not work!
