Really wish we were in the Marvin Wilson sweepstakes. He's dominating everyone this week. Him and Kaindoh are clearly a step above the rest of the DL

A Stanford Bachelor's degree might get you through that 1st door easier but, after that, further job moves and offers as you advance in your career depend 99% on your experience and proven ability, not where you earned your Bachelor's degree.

I'd be willing to bet being a Southeastern Conference football player can get you through more (or at least equally as many) doors long-term than a Stanford Bachelor's degree, at least down here in home (southern) territory.

Sure but a Stanford degree probably let's you walk through that 1st door at a higher salary and opens more 1st doors. They rank 5th in salary potential while AU's 169th for a reason. I love AU and have benefited from the engineering school but if I was given the opportunity to study at Stanford or AU for free I would have jumped all over the Stanford offer so won't fault this kid for doing the same thing

I still think he lands at AU FWIW

Jhamon Ausbon is having a big week. Really wish we could have landed Mond and gotten the Hezekiah Jones/Jhamon Ausbon trio. Good news is he will just be wasted at A&M

Wut? Stanford is considered one of the top universities in the world. It would be life changing to have a degree from there.

A random note: the kids who went to IMG stand out like a sore thumb. They all look like they have already spent time in a college weight room.

Interesting tidbit

If Alabama and Stanford were recruiting my kid, the kid would wind up at Stanford just for the education, which is priceless. They play great ball there as well.

I would go with,,,inferior education and, steady paycheck, free clothes, a shiny new Dodge Charger. I don't need education. I'm going to the League.

Got to wonder about their long term projection accuracy then

They won't get the same first year S&C gains that most kids get

Seems pretty clear that the first-team OL for Team Highlight right now is Austin Deculus at LT, Trey Smith at LG, Cesar Ruiz at C, Calvin Ashley at RG and Jedrick Wills at RT.

Really impressed by Carlson - just like his brother. Outstanding kicker.

Maybe he will get that coveted 5* ranking

Maybe so but they might also just have a head start. Almost like a redshirt year before coming to campus

Auburn lands its QB for '17 in 3-star Malik Willis (Rivals)
quote:

Over the summer, three-star Georgia athlete Malik Willis spent his time playing for Cam Newton's 7-on-7 all-star team. Now, Willis be following in Newton's footsteps by heading to Auburn to play quarterback. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect had been committed to Virginia Tech since the summer, but the chance to play quarterback for the Tigers was too much to pass up.

"Everything at Auburn was just more in line with what I'm looking for," Willis said. "I had to do what's right for me and my family and this is closer for them and it gives me a chance to play the position I love."

Willis was likely going to play defensive back for the Hokies, but now he will be the Tigers' lone quarterback signee in the 2017 class.

"It was important that I got a shot at least because I feel like I can play quarterback at the next level," said Willis, who led Roswell, Ga. to the state championship game in Georgia's highest classification. "I feel like their run-pass option offense is the same as Roswell’s and we run a lot of the same plays. That's what Coach Lashlee likes about my game, he felt my talents fit what they needed."

The connection through Newton extends beyond just 7-on-7, according to Willis, Auburn head coach Guz Malzahn said Newton was one of Willis' strongest advocates over the past few weeks.

"Coach Malzahn told me he talked to Cam and Cam said nothing but good things about me," Willis said. "Coach said he was fired up already after watching me play but after what Cam told him about me being a leader and being the best athlete on the field, that made coach feel even better about offering me and having me as their guy."

Glad we got a freshman QB option but a little surprised we passed on the instate talent. I don't mind Willis just interesting we think he is a better QB option than someone like Kaderius Toney who we only recruited as an athlete
